Enhanced Endothelialization Using Resveratrol-Loaded Polylactic Acid-Coated Left Atrial Appendage Occluders in a Canine Model.

Left atrial appendage occlusion (LAAO) is a well-established alternative to anticoagulation therapy for patients with atrial fibrillation who have a high bleeding risk. After occluder implantation, anticoagulation therapy is still required for at least 45 days until complete LAAO is achieved by neoendocardial coverage of the device. We applied a polylactic acid-resveratrol coating to the LAAO membrane to enhance endothelialization with the goal of shortening the anticoagulation therapy duration.

Psychological Disturbances and Their Association with Sleep Disturbance in Patients Admitted for Arrhythmia Diseases.

Objectives: This study aimed to assess the depression and anxiety status and their association with sleep disturbance among one single center Chinese inpatients with arrhythmia and help cardiologists better identify patients who need psychological care.

Methods: A cross-sectional survey was conducted among 495 inpatients with arrhythmia treated in Fuwai Hospital from October to December 2019. The psychological status and sleep quality were assessed using the Zung Self-Rating Anxiety Scale (SAS), the Zung Self-Rating Depression Scale (SDS) and the Pittsburgh Sleep Quality Index (PSQI).

Background: Percutaneous left atrial appendage (LAA) occlusion is effective for stroke prevention in patients with atrial fibrillation. LAA can have a complex anatomy, such as multiple lobes or a large orifice, which may render it unsuitable for occlusion using regular devices. We aimed to investigate the feasibility, safety, and short-term efficacy of the small-umbrella LAmbre device for morphologically complicated LAA.

This study aimed to assess the incidence, clinical implications, and treatment strategies of device-related thrombus (DRT) following catheter ablation and percutaneous left atrial appendage occlusion combined in one intervention. A meta-analysis of observational studies was conducted to evaluate the incidence rates, treatment strategies, and clinical implications of DRT. A total of 21 studies describing DRT events and 1 case were included in the current study.

Plasmablastic lymphoma: Review of 60 Chinese cases and prognosis analysis.

Background: Plasmablastic lymphoma (PBL) is a B-cell malignancy associated with human immunodeficiency virus (HIV). PBL could also influence the HIV-negative patients. The study aimed to identify prognostic factors for survival among Chinese PBL patients.
