Patients receiving kidney transplant experience immunosuppression, which increases the risk of bacterial, viral, fungal, and parasitic infections. Q fever is a potentially fatal infectious disease that affects immunocompromised renal transplant recipients and has implications in terms of severe consequences for the donor's kidney. A patient with acute Q fever infection following kidney transplantation was admitted to the Tsinghua Changgung Hospital in Beijing, China, in March 2021.

Article Synopsis
  • During the COVID-19 pandemic, healthcare systems were overwhelmed, and this study examined how spontaneous avoidance behaviors influenced the spread of infectious diseases through wastewater virus surveillance.
  • The researchers developed the Su-SEIQR model to analyze these behaviors alongside COVID-19 data from Beijing and Hong Kong, confirming that collective avoidance helped lower infection peaks, though its overall impact on public health was limited.
  • By incorporating healthcare capacity constraints, the model aims to advise public behaviors during outbreaks, offering valuable insights for future public health policies and the management of potential new viruses.

Objective: By extracting early chest CT radiomic features of COVID-19 patients, we explored their correlation with laboratory indicators and oxygenation index (PaO/FiO), thereby developed an Artificial Intelligence (AI) model based on radiomic features to predict the deterioration of oxygenation function in COVID-19 patients.

Methods: This retrospective study included 384 patients with COVID-19, whose baseline information, laboratory indicators, oxygenation-related parameters, and non-enhanced chest CT images were collected. Utilizing the PaO/FiO stratification proposed by the Berlin criteria, patients were divided into 4 groups, and differences in laboratory indicators among these groups were compared.

Objective: Lung squamous cell carcinoma is typically associated with a poor prognosis, highlighting the need for a reliable prognostic marker. Given that the long noncoding RNA TPT1-AS1 has demonstrated aberrant expression in numerous cancers, the prognostic significance of TPT1-AS1 in LUSC was examined.

Methods: The present study included 115 patients diagnosed with LUSC.

Objective: The aim was to investigate the factors associated with cough persistence after thoracoscopic lung cancer resection in elderly lung cancer patients and preventive strategies.

Methods: In this study, 103 elderly patients with lung cancer who attended the department of thoracic surgery of our hospital from March 2019 to January 2023 were selected for retrospective analysis, all of whom underwent thoracoscopic lung cancer resection and were divided into the cough group (n = 37) and the no-cough group (n = 66) based on the presence or absence of persistent cough in the postoperative period. The clinical data of the patients were analyzed using univariate analysis and multifactorial logistic regression analysis.

ZnAlO with a typical spinel structure is highly expected to be a novel rare-earth-free ion-activated oxide phosphor with red emission, which holds high actual meaning for advancing phosphor-converted light-emitting diode (pc-LED) lighting. Among the rare-earth-free activators, Mn ions have emerged as one of the most promising activators. Considering the price advantage of MnCO generating Mn ions and the charge compensation effect potentially obtaining Mn ions from Mn ions, this research delves into a collection of ZnAlO:Mn(Mn), x Li (x = 0%-40%) phosphors with Li as co-dopant and MnCO as Mn dopant source prepared by a high temperature solid-state reaction method.

Dust associated with various stellar sources in galaxies at all cosmic epochs remains a controversial topic, particularly whether supernovae play an important role in dust production. We report evidence of dust formation in the cold, dense shell behind the ejecta-circumstellar medium (CSM) interaction in the Type Ia-CSM supernova (SN) 2018evt three years after the explosion, characterized by a rise in mid-infrared emission accompanied by an accelerated decline in the optical radiation of the SN. Such a dust-formation picture is also corroborated by the concurrent evolution of the profiles of the Hα emission line.

Lead halide perovskite quantum dots (QDs) with high fluorescence efficiency and high color purity have a broad application prospect in the field of backlight display, but poor stability has been a key factor limiting their commercialization. Herein, we successfully synthesized CsPbBr QDs-KIT-6 (CsPbBr -K6) composite by using KIT-6 molecular sieve as the limited template with a simple high temperature solid-phase method. Further, the semi-protected CsPbBr QDs in KIT-6 frame will spontaneously hydrolyze when encountering water, and finally the double-encapsulated CsPbBr QDs-KIT-6@PbBr(OH) (CsPbBr -K6@PbBr(OH)) composite are obtained.

By only changing the ratio of Mo to S source, a distinctive single phase MoO or MoS and MoO/MoS nanocomposites (NCs) are obtained through a simple one-step hydrothermal method based on CHNS as a sulfur source and (NH)MoO·4HO as a source of Mo in oxalic acid. The effect of ratio of Mo to S source on the composition, structure, and electrochemical performance are systematically researched. Due to its unique design, abundant macropores active sites in MoO/MoS NCs induce superior rate property (55.

Background: Studies have investigated the relationship between sleep disturbance and postoperative delirium (PD) but have controversial results. A systematic review and meta-analysis have a high level of evidence to comprehensively evaluate the effect of sleep disturbance on PD. Our study aims to provide available evidence regarding the effect of sleep disturbance on PD.

The aggregation and deposition processes of marine microplastics are extremely important in marine ecosystems. The main effect of these two physical processes is the transfer of surface microplastics to the deep sea, and the underlying kinetics can be significantly affected by the organic matter in the ocean. The morphology of and interaction force on 20-μm polystyrene microplastics in the presence of organic matter were studied by using environmental scanning electron microscopy (ESEM) and atomic force microscopy (AFM), respectively.

SrBPO :Eu -Eu phosphors were synthesized using a conventional solid self-reduction reaction in an air atmosphere. Samples were characterized using thermogravimetry analysis (TGA), differential scanning calorimetry (DSC), X-ray diffraction (XRD), Fourier transform infrared (FTIR) spectra, fluorescence spectra and Commission International de l'Eclairage (CIE) data. The results of TGA and DSC showed that the raw materials could completely react at 1000°C.

Many studies have demonstrated the effects of statin therapy on platelet, but it is controversial that whether statin could reduce mean platelet volume (MPV) in patients with the risk of cardiovascular diseases. To further improve the clinical significance of MPV in those patients and explore new function of statin, we conducted this research. Relevant studies were selected by searching electronic databases (PubMed, Embase and Cochrane Library) and reference lists of related articles by hand.
