The tumor-associated glycoprotein Mucin 1 (MUC1) is aberrantly glycosylated on cancer cells and is considered a promising target for antitumor vaccines. The weak immunogenicity and low sequence homology of mouse mucins and human MUC1 are the main obstacles for the development of vaccines. Herein, a self-adjuvanted strategy combining toll-like receptor  2 lipopeptide ligands and T-cell epitopes and the multivalent effect were used to amplify the immune response and evade the unpredictable immunogenicity, generating two self-adjuvanted three-component MUC1 vaccines (mono- and trivalent MUC1 vaccines).

This article reports a case of recurrent complex pilonidal sinus and discusses the advantages of Bascom II combined with VSD treatment involving the preservation of tissue bridges.

Introduction: Interspecies interactions are a crucial driving force of species evolution. The genes of each coexisting species play a pivotal role in shaping the structure and function within the community, but how to identify them at the genome-wide level has always been challenging.

Methods: In this study, we embed the Lotka-Volterra ordinary differential equations in the theory of community ecology into the systems mapping model, so that this model can not only describe how the quantitative trait loci (QTL) of a species directly affects its own phenotype, but also describe the QTL of the species how to indirectly affect the phenotype of its interacting species, and how QTL from different species affects community behavior through epistatic interactions.

Cancer vaccines are based on a vaccinology strategy whereby the patient's immune system is harnessed to induce a specific immune response to kill cancer cells and comprises two categories: prophylactic and therapeutic. Glycoprotein mucin 1 (MUC1), which is overexpressed and poorly glycosylated on cancer cells, is one of the most promising candidates for the development of new cancer vaccines. However, it should be noted that mucin-like glycopeptides are poorly immunogenic and unable to elicit effective and long-lasting immune responses.

An inadvertent leakage of Sr into the environment can induce an easy accumulation in biosphere and cause a continuous radiation to the surrounding ecosystem. In this study, sodium hexametaphosphate (NaOP) was employed to modify the blast furnace slags (BFS) to enhance the chemical stabilization of Sr ions in the BFS-based cementitious materials. A sensitive and specific method using liquid chromatography-electrospray tandem mass spectrometry (LC-MS/MS) for the determination of pinaverium bromide in human plasma was developed and validated. Pinaverium bromide and an internal standard (paclitaxel) were isolated from plasma samples by precipitating plasma, and determined by LC-MS/MS in multiple-reaction monitoring mode. The main metabolite of pinaverium bromide and endogenous substances in plasma did not show any interference.

Electron beam stability is very important for third-generation light sources, especially for the Shanghai Synchrotron Radiation Facility whose ground vibrations are much larger than those for other light sources.
