The construction of the cost-effective materials that are convenient to be used for sustainable detection and efficient removal of toxic pollutants is highlighted in practical application. Herein, a plug-and-play bifunctional fiber-like InO heterojunction (ETI) is constructed by growing indium metal-organic frameworks directly onto an etched titanium sheet (ET) and subsequently annealed. The results show that the noble-metal free InO nanofibers induced by ET can sensitively response to trace triphenylmethane pollutant-bright green (BG, as low as 1 × 10 m, analysis enhanced factor (AEF) = 7.

How to improve the stability and activity of metal-organic frameworks is an attractive but challenging task in energy conversion and pollutant degradation of metal-organic framework materials. In this paper, a facile method is developed by fabricating titanium dioxide nanoparticles (TiO NPs) layer on 2D copper tetracarboxylphenyl-metalloporphyrin metal-organic frameworks with zinc ions as the linkers (ZnTCuMT-X, "Zn" represented zinc ions as the linkers, the first "T" represented tetracarboxylphenyl-metalloporphyrin (TCPP), "Cu" represented the Cu coordinated into the porphyrin macrocycle, "M" represented metal-organic frameworks, the second "T" represented TiO NPs layer, and "X" represented the added volume of n-tetrabutyl titanate (X = 100, 200, 300 or 400)). It is found that the optimized ZnTCuMT-200 showed greatly and stably enhanced H generation, which is ≈28.

Laminating a free-standing carbon electrode film onto perovskite film is a promising method for fabricating HTM (hole transport material)-free carbon electrode perovskite solar cells (c-PSCs), offering more flexibility by decoupling the processes of carbon electrode and perovskite layer formation. However, the power conversion efficiency (PCE) of laminated HTM-free c-PSCs (<16.5 %) remains lower compared to c-PSCs with printed carbon pastes (>20 %), primarily due to poor interfacial contact between the perovskite and carbon layers.

The sustainable identification and efficient degradation of some recessive and seriously toxic pollutants are important issues in practical applications. Herein, a portable platform (EAl/ACN/Ag) constructed by growing AgNPs in situ in the cavities of the alkalized carbon nitride (ACN) coated on the etched Al sheet (EAl) is achieved. Interestingly, on the constructed EAl/ACN/Ag substrate irradiated by light for 3 min, a Raman inactive leuco-malachite green (LMG: a highly toxic and environmentally persistent pollutant that is difficult to be found due to being colorless) can be sensitively and selectively detected by surface-enhanced Raman scattering spectroscopy (SERS).

Article Synopsis
  • Acute necrotizing encephalopathy (ANE) is a rare brain disorder primarily affecting children, usually following viral infections, but this case highlights an adult instance linked to a bacterial infection.
  • The patient developed severe neurological symptoms after a urinary tract infection caused by E. coli, leading to a rapid decline in health and a diagnosis of ANE based on brain MRI results.
  • This case suggests that ANE can be triggered by bacterial infections, indicating it may be more of an immune-mediated disorder rather than strictly an infectious one.

This study introduces a novel method for detecting free glycidol and total free monochloropropanediol (MCPD) in fish and krill oil. Before analysis on high-performance liquid chromatography-tandem mass spectrometry (HPLC-MS), -(dimethylamino)phenol was used for derivatization of these compounds, enabling the sensitive determination of these contaminants. The sample preparation procedure includes a simple, efficient pretreatment using NaCl aqueous solution extraction and C18 sorbent cleanup (for demulsification), distinguishing glycidol from MCPD under varied reaction conditions for derivatization (weak acidic and strong alkaline aqueous environments).
