Indoor Air Quality in an Orthopedic Hospital from Romania.

Inside hospitals, there is a trend of increasing levels of air pollutants. However, only the indoor air quality in operating theaters is carefully monitored. Therefore, we set the goal of this study to evaluate the indoor air quality in areas of an orthopedics department and to compare the indoor air quality indices that characterize these areas.

Clinical Workflow Algorithm for Preoperative Planning, Reduction and Stabilization of Complex Acetabular Fractures with the Support of Three-Dimensional Technologies.

Treatment of pelvic injuries poses serious problems for surgeons due to the difficulties of the associated injuries. The objective of this research is to create a clinical workflow that integrates three-dimensional technologies in preoperative planning and performing surgery for the reduction and stabilization of associated acetabular fractures. : The research methodology consisted of integrating the stages of virtual preoperative planning, physical preoperative planning, and performing the surgical intervention in a newly developed clinical workflow.

Evaluation of Community Involvement and Development in an Orthopedic Hospital.

Improving healthcare requires appropriate community involvement supported by appropriate partner engagement methods. This research aims to develop a complex tool for evaluating the social responsibility of health facilities regarding community involvement and development. We developed areas of a new reference framework for the sustainability of healthcare organizations, which includes the area of community involvement and expansion.

Background And Objectives: Ensuring the sustainability of healthcare facilities requires the evaluation of patient matters with appropriate methods and tools. The objective of this research is to develop a new tool for assessing patient matters as a component of social responsibility requirements that contribute to the sustainability of healthcare facilities.

Materials And Methods: We carried out an analytical observational study in which, starting from the domains of the reference framework for the sustainability of health facilities (economic, environmental, social, provision of sustainable medical care services and management processes), we designed indicators that describe patient matters.

Fair Healthcare Practices in Orthopedics Assessed with a New Framework.

: Healthcare systems are supported by the European ideology to develop their egalitarian concerns and to encourage the correct and fair behavior of medical staff. By integrating fair healthcare practices into sustainability, this requirement is addressed. In this research, our objective is to develop and validate, in the current activity of healthcare facilities, a new instrument for evaluating fair healthcare practices as a component of social responsibility integrated into sustainability.

Correlation between Inflammatory Systemic Biomarkers and Surgical Trauma in Elderly Patients with Hip Fractures.

The treatment for hip fractures consists of a wide variety of orthopedic implants ranging from prosthesis to intramedullary nails. The purpose of this study is to determine the correlation between blood-count-derived biomarkers such as the neutrophil-to-lymphocyte ratio (NLR), the platelet-to-lymphocyte ratio (PLR), the monocyte-to-lymphocyte ratio (MLR) and the systemic immune-inflammation index (SII) and the level of aggression sustained by elderly patients during these surgical procedures. A total of 129 patients aged over 70 and diagnosed with acute hip fractures who underwent surgical treatment between November 2021 and February 2023 were included in our observational retrospective cohort study.

A Comprehensive Research on the Prevalence and Evolution Trend of Orthopedic Surgeries in Romania.

Accurate knowledge of the prevalence and trends of orthopedic surgeries can facilitate the design of medical plans for effective treatments. The National Endoprosthetic Registry (NER) in Romania provides statistics on endoprosthetic activity (hip, knee), cases of fractures and bone tumors as a result of the legal obligations to report interventions performed by all orthopedic traumatology hospitals/wards in the country. The aim of this study is to describe the annual volumes of orthopedic surgeries between 2001 and 2022 in Romania and analyze the current and future evolution trends of the studied surgeries, gender differences and regional differences based on a complete survey carried out at a national level.

Assessment of Labor Practices in Healthcare Using an Innovatory Framework for Sustainability.

There is a perceived need for new theoretical and empirical studies, as well as for new instruments to assess the implementation of new labor practices in the field. Such practices address unmet social needs and consolidate the sustainable development systems which promote health equity.

An Investigation for Future Practice of Elective Hip and Knee Arthroplasties during COVID-19 in Romania.

: Elective arthroplasty in Romania has been severely affected by the COVID-19 pandemic, and its effects are not quantified so far. The aim of this paper is to determine the impact of COVID-19 on arthroplasty interventions and how they varied in Romania. : We performed a national retrospective analysis of patients who underwent primary and revision elective hip and knee interventions at the 120 orthopedic-traumatology hospitals in Romania that are registered in the National Endoprosthesis Registry from 1 January 2019 to 1 September 2022.

The Impact of the COVID-19 Pandemic on the Orthopedic Residents: A Pan-Romanian Survey.

The COVID-19 pandemic has brought unprecedented challenges, with a potential stress which might affect the education of resident doctors in the field of orthopedics and traumatology. Its repercussion on the residents' strain and training routes is not well known. After two years of pandemic, this paper aims to analyze the repercussion of the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) on education, medical training, and the mental well-being of Romanian resident doctors in orthopedics and traumatology.

An Innovative Framework for Sustainable Development in Healthcare: The Human Rights Assessment.

Healthcare providers are investing considerable resources for the development of quality management systems in hospitals. Contrary to these efforts, the number of tools that allow the evaluation of implementation efforts and the results of quality, security and sustainable development is quite limited. The purpose of the study is to develop a reference framework for quality and sustainable development in healthcare, Sanitary-Quality (San-Q) at the micro system level, which is compatible with applicable national and international standards in the field.

Metal Nanoparticles and Carbon-Based Nanomaterials for Improved Performances of Electrochemical (Bio)Sensors with Biomedical Applications.

Monitoring human health for early detection of disease conditions or health disorders is of major clinical importance for maintaining a healthy life. Sensors are small devices employed for qualitative and quantitative determination of various analytes by monitoring their properties using a certain transduction method. A "real-time" biosensor includes a biological recognition receptor (such as an antibody, enzyme, nucleic acid or whole cell) and a transducer to convert the biological binding event to a detectable signal, which is read out indicating both the presence and concentration of the analyte molecule.

The HSP90 inhibitor RGRN-305 exhibits strong immunomodulatory effects in human keratinocytes.

Keratinocytes are the key cellular target for IL-17A-mediated effects in psoriasis and HSP90 is important for IL-17A-mediated signalling. RGRN-305 is a novel HSP90 inhibitor reported to reduce psoriatic phenotypes in preclinical animal models. The aim of this study was to investigate the effect of RGRN-305 on a psoriasis-like inflammatory response in human keratinocytes in vitro.

Here, we describe two adult patients with recurrent HSV2 lymphocytic Mollaret's meningitis that each carry a rare monoallelic variant in the autophagy proteins ATG4A or LC3B2.

Characterization of circular RNA transcriptomes in psoriasis and atopic dermatitis reveals disease-specific expression profiles.

Atopic dermatitis (AD) and psoriasis are two common chronic inflammatory skin diseases that are associated with various comorbidities. Circular RNA (circRNA) constitutes a major class of non-coding RNAs that have been implicated in many human diseases, although their potential involvement in inflammatory skin diseases remains elusive. Here, we compare and contrast the circRNA expression landscapes in paired lesional and non-lesional skin from psoriasis and AD patients relative to skin from unaffected individuals using high-depth RNA-seq data.
