Estuaries are transitional zones between rivers and marine environments, with intensive human activities. Pollutants pose a threat to the ecological systems of estuaries. Among these pollutants, microplastics and antibiotic resistant genes have gained significant attention due to their potential impacts on estuarine organisms and human health.

Absolute ethanol is renowned for its remarkable efficacy as a potent sclerosants, but it is potentially associated with severe complications. Foam sclerotherapy is considered superior to liquid sclerotherapy owing to its heightened efficacy and diminished incidence of complications.

Nicotine is an important risk factor for cardiac fibrosis, yet its underlying molecular mechanism remains poorly understood. This study aimed to identify its potential molecular mechanism in nicotine-induced cardiac fibrosis.

However, personality dimensions in depression and their association with antidepressant treatment in adolescents are relatively unknown. We sought to investigate whether personality traits (PTs) can influence antidepressant treatment response in adolescents with depression.

Objective: To explore the differential expression of microRNAs (miRNAs) in brain-derived exosomes (BDEs) of adolescent mice with depression-like behavior.
Methods: The experimental group consisted of susceptible adolescent mice exposed to chronic social defeat stress (CSDS), and sucrose preference test (SPT) and open field test (OFT) were performed to evaluate their depression-like behaviors. BDEs were extracted by ultracentrifugation (UC).

Objective: To investigate the changes in serum inflammatory cytokines and the predictive factors for the efficacy of sertraline following medication therapy in adolescents with first-episode major depressive disorder (MDD).
Methods: A total of 61 adolescent patients with first-episode drug-naïve MDD were enrolled for the MDD group and 55 healthy adolescents were enrolled for the healthy control (HC) group. Sertraline tablets were administered to the MDD group for 8 weeks after enrollment, while no medication was given to the HC group.

In vitro dose escalation experiments are one of the first gatekeepers in therapeutic evaluation and development. This also holds for evaluating novel photosensitizers (PS) and Photodynamic Therapy (PDT) co-therapies as needed to provide dose response guidelines before engaging in further pre-clinical studies. The dose needed to achieve 50% cell kill (LD) is a standard metric to report the potency of a therapeutic agents that is widely accepted for single-drug therapies.

Background: Psoriasis is a recurrent, chronic, inflammation- and immune-mediated skin disease with multiple causative factors. However, the genetic markers associated with recurrence have not yet been fully elucidated. Accordingly, in this study, we aimed to identify markers associated with the recurrence of psoriasis.

Extracellular vesicles (EVs) are mediators of cellular communication and are involved in many physiological brain processes. Although EV miRNAshave been implicated in adults with major psychiatric disorders, investigation into their effects in adolescent MDDremains scarce.

Although the β-defensin 126 (DEFB126) protein is associated with asthenozoospermia, DEFB126 gene polymorphisms have not been extensively studied. Therefore, the association between DEFB126 gene polymorphisms and asthenozoospermia requires further investigation.

Two new dimeric and trimeric sesquiterpene lactones (-), and nine known sesquiterpene lactones (-) were isolated from the EtOAc phase of the ethanolic extract of . Their structures were identified by NMR, IR and HR-ESIMS spectroscopic methods, and compound was confirmed by single crystal X-ray diffraction experiment. All the compounds were tested for their cytotoxic, anti-microbial and anti-inflammatory activities.

Moxibustion may serve as an alternative management for simple obesity, where pharmacological therapy is always difficult to be accepted by the majority of obese patients based on its safety. However, the effects of herb-partitioned moxibustion as obesity intervention have not been confirmed.

The design and assembly of photoelectro-active molecular channel structures is of great importance because of their advantages in charge mobility, photo-induced electron transfer, proton conduction, and exciton transport. Herein, we report the use of racemic 9,9'-diphenyl-[2,2'-bifluorene]-9,9'-diol (DPFOH) enantiomers to produce non-helical 1D channel structures. Although the individual molecule does not present any molecular symmetry, two pairs of racemic DPFOH enantiomers can form a C -symmetric closed loop via the stereoscopic herringbone assembly.

A three-dimensional-two-dimensional dimensionality transition of organic microcrystals was performed via elongated octahedrons, oblique octahedrons, diamond-like particles, and parallelograms using nonplanar 2,7-di(9-carbazol-9-yl)spiro[fluorene-9,9'-xanthene] molecules. The specific crystal symmetry and selective adhesion of P123 on the {11-1}s facet are supposed to induce the morphological transition.
