The Construction of Furocoumarins through Iron-Catalyzed Relay Annulation of Oxime Esters with 4-Hydroxycoumarins.

An iron-catalyzed relay annulation protocol was disclosed, which utilizes oxime esters and 4-hydroxycoumarins as the readily available starting materials and showcases broad substrate scope and good functional group tolerance. This method allows the simultaneous generation of two C-C and one C-O bonds and two rings in one step, affording structurally new furocoumarins in moderate to good yields.

Ultrasonographic prediction model for benign and malignant salivary gland tumors: a preliminary study.

Objective: To establish an ultrasonographic (US) prediction model for benign and malignant salivary gland tumors.

Study Design: We retrospectively analyzed the clinical data of 575 patients with salivary gland tumors. Patients were divided into benign (N = 420) and malignant (N = 155) tumor groups based on histopathologic results.

Traditional methods usually require tedious reaction steps, and/or the use of structurally specific starting materials. We report an unprecedented, iminyl radical-triggered relay annulation from oxime-derived peresters and azadienes, which shows good substrate scope and functional group compatibility, and can deliver various bridged aza-tetracyclic compounds with complex molecular topology and four contiguous stereogenic centers (dr > 19 : 1) in a single operation.

Demand for longer quarantine period among common and uncommon COVID-19 infections: a scoping review.

Background: As one of the non-pharmacological interventions to control the transmission of COVID-19, determining the quarantine duration is mainly based on the accurate estimates of the incubation period. However, patients with coarse information of the exposure date, as well as infections other than the symptomatic, were not taken into account in previously published studies. Thus, by using the statistical method dealing with the interval-censored data, we assessed the quarantine duration for both common and uncommon infections.

Immobility responses between mouse strains correlate with distinct hippocampal serotonin transporter protein expression and function.

Mouse strain differences in immobility and in sensitivity to antidepressants have been observed in the forced swimming test (FST) and the tail suspension test (TST). However, the neurotransmitter systems and neural substrates that contribute to these differences remain unknown. To investigate the role of the hippocampal serotonin transporter (5-HTT), we measured baseline immobility and the immobility responses to fluoxetine (FLX) in the FST and the TST in male CD-1, C57BL/6, DBA and BALB/c mice.

[Surgical treatment of dumbbell tumor complicating with vertebral destruction in cervical spine].

Objective: To explore the feasibility and efficacy of operating through an anterior approach in the treatment of dumbbell tumor complicating with vertebral destruction in cervical spine.

Methods: Surgical procedures were performed through an anterior approach in 7 cases of dumbbell tumor complicating with vertebral and transverse process destruction during the period of May 2004 to February 2009. Bone graft and internal fixation were implemented after tumor removal.
