Cytokinins (CKs) are one of the important classes of plant hormones essential for plant growth and development. TATA-box binding protein-associated factor 12b (TAF12b) is involved in CK signaling, but its molecular and biochemical mechanisms are not fully understood. In this study, TAF12b of Nicotiana benthamiana (NbTAF12b) was found to mediate the CK response by directly interacting with type B response regulators (B-RRs), positive regulators of CK signaling, and inhibiting their transcriptional activities.

Aims: To compare the effectiveness of cervical epidural injections of local anesthetic with vs. without a steroid.

Methods: Three databases (PubMed, Embase, and Cochrane library) were used to search and assess all clinical randomized controlled trials regarding the clinical efficacy of epidural injections from January 01, 2009, to October 31, 2020.

Small heat shock proteins (sHSPs) have been thought to function as chaperones, protecting their targets from denaturation and aggregation when organisms are subjected to various biotic and abiotic stresses. We previously reported an sHSP from Oryza sativa (OsHSP20) that homodimerizes and forms granules within the cytoplasm but its function was unclear. We now show that OsHSP20 transcripts were significantly up-regulated by heat shock and high salinity but not by drought.

This paper reports the tandem reaction strategy of the Passerini/Staudinger/aza-Wittig reaction based on the in situ capture of isocyanides. According to this strategy, isocyanides are synthesized in situ and immediately work as the substrate for the Passerini reaction and postmodification tandem reaction in one pot. In addition, two types of new compounds, 5-oxo-3,5-dihydrobenzo[ e][1,4]oxazepines and 6-oxo-5,6-dihydro-2 H-1,4-oxazines, were synthesized using the tandem reaction strategy that includes five-step transformations in one pot.

The advanced treatment of petrochemical secondary wastewater by ozone- aerated biological filter was carried out in this study. The effect of pH on ozonation and the removal of COD and UV254 by the ozone-aerated biological filter combined process were investigated. In addition, the variation of relative molecular mass distribution of organics and the characteristics of three-dimensional fluorescence spectra of the wastewater were also investigated.

Pot experiments were carried out to investigate the influence of different zinc (Zn) levels (0, 100, 200, 400 and 600 micromol x L(-1)) on the plant growth, activities of antioxidant enzymes, contents of chlorophyll a and b, accumulation and chemical forms of cadmium (Cd) in Capsicum annuum L. when exposed to Cd (20 mg x kg(-1)). The results showed that dry weights of leaf, stem, fruit and root, and contents of chlorophyll a and b in Capsicum annuum L.

An efficient Ag(I)-catalyzed regioselective cyclization of (2-alkynylphenyl)guanidine or (2-alkynylphenyl)isourea to indole N-carboximidamides or N-carboximidoates has been developed. The approach has the advantages of high regioselectivity, mild reaction conditions, easily accessible starting materials, and good yields.
