We investigate the chiroptical responses of the hybrid systems consisting of metal-insulator-metal (MIM) gammadion arrays on top of a dielectric slab waveguide. We demonstrate that both the transverse magnetic (TM) and transverse electric (TE) waveguide modes could be coupled to the antisymmetric localized surface plasmon resonances (LSPRs) of the individual MIM-gammadions, leading to the formation of narrow hybrid waveguide-plasmon resonances (WPRs), of which the TM-WPR is less dependent while the TE-WPR is highly dependent on the handedness of the incident light. Associated with the excitation of the TE-WPRs, strong negative and positive circular dichroism (CD) peaks with high quality factors could be obtained on the short-wavelength and long-wavelength side of the LSPRs of the MIM-gammadion, respectively.

Article Synopsis
  • The study compares the laparoscopic uncut Roux-en-Y (URY) and Billroth II with Braun (BB) anastomosis techniques after laparoscopic distal gastrectomy for gastric cancer, aiming to address complications like bile reflux gastritis and Roux-Y stasis syndrome.
  • URY has the potential to reduce bile and pancreatic juice entry into the stomach while maintaining duodenal impulses, whereas BB aims to minimize postoperative biliary reflux without causing stasis.
  • The research involved analyzing various studies and clinical trials published between January 1994 and August 2021, ultimately reviewing data from eight studies with a total of 704 patients.

Article Synopsis
  • The study aimed to compare robot-assisted surgery and conventional laparoscopy for gynecologic oncology outcomes, focusing on intra- and post-operative results.
  • A retrospective analysis of 276 women showed that robot-assisted surgery took longer but resulted in more lymph nodes retrieved, quicker post-operative feeding, and less drainage compared to conventional methods.
  • Despite these benefits, there were no significant differences in estimated blood loss or complication rates between the two surgical approaches.

Article Synopsis
  • The study analyzed how cadmium affects cytosine methylation in radish plants using a technique called methylation-sensitive amplified polymorphism (MSAP).
  • Results showed a significant increase in methylation levels with higher cadmium chloride concentrations (50, 250, and 500 mg/L) compared to the control, indicating that new methylation was occurring under cadmium stress.
  • Four different methylation patterns were observed in the plants exposed to cadmium, with the primary change being de novo methylation at specific DNA sites.

SRAP and TRAP are two kinds of newly developed molecular marker systems with the advantages of simplicity, high throughput, numerous co-dominant makers, highly reproducibility and ready to sequence, especially preferential targeting ORFs. The principle and protocol of SRAP and TRAP, which were developed in Brassica and Helianthus crops firstly, are introduced in the paper. Primer design is a key step for SRAP and TRAP, and some F-and R-primers were developed.
