Background: To date, a consensus on the relative efficacy and safety of CO fractional laser versus erbium-doped yttrium aluminum garnet (Er:YAG) fractional laser treatments for atrophic acne scars has not been reached. This meta-analysis aims to systematically assess and compare their effectiveness and safety in clinical practice.

Methods: For this meta-analysis, we conducted comprehensive searches in Pubmed, Embase, and Cochrane databases, covering publications from their inception up to August 2023.

Periampullary neoplasm is rare in pediatric patients and has constituted a strict indication for pancreatoduodenectomy (PD), which is a procedure sporadically reported in the literature among children. Robotic PD has been routinely performed for periampullary neoplasm in periampullary neoplasm, but only a few cases in pediatric patients have been reported. Here, we report the case of a 3-year-old patient with periampullary rhabdomyosarcoma treated with robotic pylorus-preserving PD and share our experience with this procedure in pediatric patients.

Purpose: The purpose of this study was to investigate the effect of laparoscopic left colectomy (LLC) and laparoscopic sigmoidectomy (LSD) on short-term outcomes and prognosis of sigmoid colon cancer (SCC) patients using propensity score matching (PSM).

Methods: In this retrospective study, the SCC patients who underwent LLC or LSD surgery were collected from a single clinical center from Jan 2011 to Dec 2019. Short-term outcomes and prognosis were compared between patients who received LSD surgery and LLC surgery.

Background: Annular pancreas is a rare congenital disorder that requires surgical management once diagnosed. Diamond-shaped and side-to-side duodenoduodenostomy are both popular worldwide nowadays in the surgical management of annular pancreas. Here we present our experience with laparoscopic management of annular pancreas in the last 5 years and compare the clinical results of the diamond-shaped versus side-to-side anastomotic techniques.

Background: Acute compartment syndrome (ACS) is one of the most common complications of musculoskeletal injury, leading to the necrosis and demise of skeletal muscle cells. Our previous study showed that embryonic stem cells-derived mesenchymal stem cells (ESC-MSCs) are novel therapeutics in ACS treatment. As extracellular vesicles (EVs) are rapidly gaining attention as cell-free therapeutics that have advantages over parental stem cells, the therapeutic potential and mechanisms of EVs from ESC-MSCs on ACS need to be explored.

Concrete is vital for the development of modern buildings. However, they suffer from the high viscosity problem in their application process due to the use of a low water-cement ratio in order to maintain their high strength. Developing PCEs with the presence of ester functional groups in their molecular structure is one of the most effective measures to improve the flowability of concrete.

We analyzed RNA-sequencing (RNA-seq) and clinical data from head and neck squamous cell carcinoma (HNSCC) patients in The Cancer Genome Atlas (TCGA) Genomic Data Commons (GDC) portal to investigate the prognostic value of anoikis-related genes (ARGs) in HNSCC and develop new targeted drugs. Differentially expressed ARGs were screened using bioinformatics methods; subsequently, a prognostic model including three ARGs (CDKN2A, BIRC5, and PLAU) was constructed. Our results showed that the model-based risk score was a good prognostic indicator, and the potential of the three ARGs in HNSCC prognosis was validated by the TISCH database, the model's accuracy was validated in two independent cohorts of the Gene Expression Omnibus database.

Objectives: To explore the outcomes and related factors in children without cholangitis after Kasai portoenterostomy (KPE).

Methods: We retrospectively analyzed the data of infants with type III BA who underwent KPE from June 2016 to December 2021. We compared and analyzed the difference in native liver survival (NLS) rates in different types of cholangitis.

Background: Since there is currently no conclusion on the efficacy and adverse effects of oxymetazoline, this meta-analysis attempts to explore its efficacy and adverse events, so as to provide guidance for clinical medication.

Methods: We searched PubMed, Embase, and Cochrane Library from the establishment of the database to May 2021. We included studies that patients were randomly assigned to receive oxymetazoline or vehicle, and we excluded duplicate publications, research without full text, incomplete information or inability to conduct data extraction, animal experiments, reviews, and systematic reviews.

Fast detection of heavy metals is important to ensure the quality and safety of herbal medicines. In this study, laser-induced breakdown spectroscopy (LIBS) was applied to detect the heavy metal content (Cd, Cu, and Pb) in . Quantitative prediction models were established using a back-propagation neural network (BPNN) optimized using the particle swarm optimization (PSO) algorithm and sparrow search algorithm (SSA), called PSO-BP and SSA-BP, respectively.

Treatment of cardiac arrest/cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CA/CPR)-induced brain injury remains a challenging issue without viable therapeutic options. Octanoic acid (OA), a lipid oil that is mainly metabolized in the astrocytes of the brain, is a promising treatment for this type of injury owing to its potential functions against oxidative stress, apoptosis, inflammation, and ability to stabilize mitochondria. However, the application of OA is strictly limited by its short half-life and low available concentration in the target organ.

Astigmatid mites are economically significant pests of stored products and sources of inhalant allergens causing allergic rhinitis and asthma worldwide. The morphological identification of astigmatid mites at the species level is often a difficult task due to their small size, phenotypic similarity and lack of diagnostic characters. We used multiplex polymerase chain reaction (PCR) to identify astigmatid mite species, which could complement the morphological data for the species-specific identification of mites.

Background: To investigate the prognostic value of ferroptosis-related long noncoding RNAs (lncRNAs) in oral squamous cell carcinoma (OSCC) and to construct a prognostic risk and immune activity model.

Methods: We obtained clinical and RNA-seq information on OSCC patient data in The Cancer Genome Atlas (TCGA) Genome Data Sharing (GDC) portal. Through a combination of a differential analysis, Pearson correlation analysis and Cox regression analysis, ferroptosis-related lncRNAs were identified, and a prognostic model was established based on these ferroptosis-related lncRNAs.

Nowadays, the complexity of disease mechanisms and the inadequacy of single-target therapies in restoring the biological system have inevitably instigated the strategy of multi-target therapeutics with the analysis of each target individually. However, it is not suitable for dealing with the conflicts between targets or between drugs. With the release of high-precision protein structure prediction artificial intelligence, large-scale high-precision protein structure prediction and docking have become possible.

The common carp () accounts for approximately 10% of the annual freshwater aquaculture production and is an ideal model to study cyprinidae reproduction. Female common carp grow faster than the males; therefore, related research presents an opportunity with high application value. Although we have a detailed understanding of common carp's early gonadal differentiation process, information about genome-wide gene expression, regulation, and underlying molecular mechanisms during this process remain limited.
