To realize human-machine fusion, a hybrid neural pathway operating in the same modality with biological systems becomes imperative, which requires an interneuron unit to encode information in biorecognizable spike sequences and tune the frequency upon excitatory and inhibitory neurotransmitters. Existing artificial interneurons cannot encode information upon different neurotransmitters, and the activation threshold and frequency responsivity do not align with those of biological counterparts, leading to limited success in constructing a signal-harmonizing hybrid neural pathway for neuroprosthetics, neurorehabilitation, and other neuroelectronic applications. Herein, we develop a bipolar-chemosynapse interneuron to encode the spike frequency in a highly bionic paradigm.

The modified Thrombolysis In Cerebral Infarction (mTICI) score serves as one of the key clinical indicators to assess the success of the Mechanical Thrombectomy (MT), requiring physicians to inspect Digital Subtraction Angiography (DSA) images in both the coronal and sagittal views. However, assessing mTICI scores manually is time-consuming and has considerable observer variability. An automatic, objective, and end-to-end method for assigning mTICI scores may effectively avoid observer errors.

Neutrophil extracellular traps (NETs) act as a vital first line of defence against tissue damage and pathogens, playing a significant role in improving diseases such as intestinal ischemia reperfusion injury (IRI). However, we observed that after intestinal injury, intestinal bacteria and lipopolysaccharides (LPS) can enter the circulatory system, leading to a significant secondary increase in NETs production and the subsequent activation of a coagulation cascade. This phenomenon contributes to a pathological process known as the 'second strike' of NETs, which exaggerates intestinal damage and microcirculation disturbance.

Due to the extreme difficulty of cartilage, we endeavored to fabricate a novel biodegradable scaffold using natural polysaccharide cellulose and poly(lactic-co-glycolic acid) (PLGA) microspheres incorporating controllably released the cartilage inducer kartogenin (KGN) for enhancing regenerative healing in cartilage tissue. Initially, to facilitate the loading of KGN, PLGA/KGN microspheres were fabricated using the solvent volatilization method. These microspheres exhibited high sphericity, with particle sizes diminishing from 12.

Inflammatory pain presents a significant clinical challenge. AMP-activated protein kinase (AMPK) is recognized for its capacity to alleviate inflammation by inhibiting transcription factors such as nuclear factor kappa B (NF-κB) and signal transducer and activator of transcription (STAT). Our prior research demonstrated that AMPK reduces inflammatory pain by inhibiting NF-κB activation and interleukin-1 beta (IL-1β) expression.

Idiopathic upper eyelid retraction is a rare ocular symptom characterized by abnormal upward displacement of the upper eyelid, often without any identifiable systemic disease. This condition not only affects the patient's appearance but may also have a certain impact on their daily life and mental health. We report a case of adult idiopathic unilateral upper eyelid retraction, and based on the patient's specific condition, we used graded anterior plate blepharoplasty for treatment.

Recent research has integrated positive psychology with the Second Language Motivational Self System (L2MMS) to explore how enjoyment, L2 self-guides (including ideal L2 self and ought-to L2 self), and engagement interact among school-aged second-language (L2) learners. However, there is a significant gap in understanding these dynamics among adult learners, particularly those who primarily learn a second language online-a group that has been largely overlooked. To address this gap, our study examined the underlying mechanisms connecting these constructs.

Doxorubicin-induced cardiotoxicity (DIC) is one of the most severe side effects of doxorubicin, yet the underlying mechanisms remain incompletely understood. Our results showed that Neutrophil extracellular traps (NETs) accumulated in plasma and cardiac tissue after doxorubicin treatment. The inhibition of NETs formation by Pad4 gene ablation significantly attenuated doxorubicin-induced arrhythmia, prolonged survival time and reduced the levels of Troponin T (cTnT) and creatine kinase MB (CK-MB) in mice.

Multijunction photovoltaics (PVs) are gaining prominence owing to their superior capability of achieving power conversion efficiencies (PCEs) beyond the radiative limit of single-junction cells, for which improving narrow-bandgap (NBG) tin-lead perovskites is critical for thin-film devices. Here, with a focus on understanding the chemistry of tin-lead perovskite precursor solutions, we find that Sn(II) species dominate interactions with precursors and additives and uncover the exclusive role of carboxylic acid in regulating solution colloidal properties and film crystallization and ammonium in improving film optoelectronic properties. Materials that combine these two functional groups, amino acid salts, considerably improve the semiconducting quality and homogeneity of perovskite films, surpassing the effect of the individual functional groups when introduced as part of separate molecules.

Neutrophil extracellular traps (NETs) have been shown to exhibit chemotactic effects on circulating tumor cells at metastatic sites, promoting the progression of colorectal cancer liver metastasis (CRLM). However, the origin and factors contributing to the formation of NETs (NETosis) in the pre-metastatic niche (PMN) of target organs remain unclear. In this study, we investigated the relationship between phosphatase of regenerating liver-3 (PRL-3), myeloid-derived suppressor cells (MDSCs), neutrophils, and NETs through a retrospective clinical cohort study and a mouse model of CRLM.

Clear cell renal cell carcinoma (ccRCC), the most common subtype of renal cell carcinoma, often exhibits resistance to tyrosine kinase inhibitors (TKIs) when used as monotherapy. However, the integration of PD-1 blockade with TKIs has significantly improved patient survival, making it a leading therapeutic strategy for ccRCC. Despite these advancements, the efficacy of this combined therapy remains suboptimal, necessitating a deeper understanding of the underlying regulatory mechanisms.
