Background: Low-density lipoprotein cholesterol (LDL-C) is a well-recognized risk factor for cardiovascular diseases. However, several clinical studies demonstrated an inverse association between LDL-C and mortality risk in patients with acute myocardial infarction (AMI), known as the lipid paradox. This study aims to investigate the potential impact of inflammation on the association between LDL-C levels and mortality risks.

Evidence has emerged indicating that disruptions in endoplasmic reticulum homeostasis are significantly implicated in the onset and progression of various oncological conditions. This study was designed to construct a prognostic model based on genes related to endoplasmic reticulum stress(ERS) to predict survival outcomes in patients with GC.

This polymer was then blended with aqueous isocyanate SK615, known as MD-HBP-NH, to serve as a surface modifier for blockboards. The blockboards were treated with a modifier to enhance the interfacial adhesion with melamine-formaldehyde (MF) resin-impregnated decorative paper, thereby preventing surface cracks.

Proteomics and other technical methods were applied to investigate the changes in protein composition and structure aiming to explore the mechanism through which transportation stress affects gelling capability of surimi. As the transportation time was prolonged from 3 to 24 h, the gel strength of surimi gel decreased by 28.

This study aimed to investigate the correlation between baseline HbA1c and long-term prognosis in CHD patients with T2DM.
Methods: The study enrolled 6,839 CHD patients with T2DM and measured HbA1c at admission in a multicenter prospective observational cohort.
Nano fish bone (NFB) was produced by high-energy media milling. The NFB was composed of circular crystals (approximately 110 nm) and fibrous collagen/peptide. Effects of NFB on the quality and microorganisms of glucono-d-lactone (GDL)-induced tofu stored at 4 °C were investigated.

Chromatin organization is important for gene transcription in pig genome. However, its three-dimensional (3D) structure and dynamics are much less investigated than those in human. Here we applied the long-reads chromatin interaction analysis by paired-end tag sequencing (ChIA-PET) method to map the whole-genome chromatin interactions mediated by CCCTC-binding factor (CTCF) and RNA polymerase Ⅱ (RNAPⅡ or POLⅡ) in porcine macrophage cells before and after polyinosinic-polycytidylic acid [Poly(I:C)] induction.

Our current study aimed to identify some novel perioperative indicators that can enhance the predictive accuracy of the Global Registry of Acute Coronary Events (GRACE) score for the in-hospital major adverse cardiovascular events (MACEs) in patients with acute myocardial infarction.
Methods: A total of 647 adult patients with AMI admitted to the emergency department were consecutively enrolled in the retrospective research starting from June 2016 to September 2019.
To investigate the quality of different ozone-oxidized surimi gels and their in vitro digestion and absorption characteristics, surimi rinsed with different concentrations of ozonated water (0, 8, 26 mg/L) were prepared. Then, the degree of oxidation and gel structure of surimi were determined, the in vitro digestion and absorption of the gels were simulated, and the digestion and absorption products were analyzed by LC-MS/MS. The results showed that the quality of surimi gels was improved after proper ozone oxidation.

The complex microenvironment of diabetic wounds often hinders the healing process, ultimately leading to the formation of diabetic foot ulcers and even death. Dual monitoring and treatment of wounds can significantly reduce the incidence of such cases. Herein, a multifunctional Janus membrane (3D chitosan sponge-ZE/polycaprolactone nanofibers-ZP) was developed by incorporating the zinc metal-organic framework, europium metal-organic framework, and phenol red into nanofibers for diabetic wound monitoring and treatment.

The changes in N-carboxymethyllysine (CML), N-carboxyethyllysine (CEL), N-(5-hydro-5-methyl-4-imidazolon-2-yl)-ornithine (MG-H1), and fluorescent AGEs (F-AGEs) in fried shrimp during frying (170 °C, 0-210 s) were described by kinetic models. Besides, the correlations between AGEs contents and physicochemical indicators were analyzed to reveal their intrinsic relationship.

Adding salt prompted the shifting of the secondary structure of α-helix to β-sheet, β-turn and random coil. The interaction between water molecules and hydrophilic groups in the unfolded protein structure increased nonfreezing water content, which decreased specific heat capacity, thermal conductivity of sample during freezing.

Herein, we explored a new form of iron supplement, iron chelates of silver carp scales (SCSCP-Fe) were prepared from collagen peptide of silver carp scales (SCSCP) and FeCl·4HO, the effects of external environment and simulated gastrointestinal digestive environment on the stability of SCSCP-Fe and the structural changes of peptide iron chelates during digestion were investigated. The results of in vitro iron absorption promotion showed that the iron bioavailability of SCSCP-Fe was higher than that of FeSO.
