Praziquantel (PZQ) is the most effective treatment for schistosomiasis, commonly administered as a racemic mixture of the two enantiomers. Despite many reports on the pharmacokinetics of PZQ, the stereoselective pharmacokinetics of PZQ and its major metabolite 4-hydroxypraziquantel (4-OH-PZQ) remain poorly understood in goats. In this study, the chiral LC-MS/MS method was further optimized for separating and quantifying PZQ, trans-4-OH-PZQ, and cis-4-OH-PZQ and their enantiomers and then applied for the molecular pharmacokinetics of three analytes in black goat plasma.

In this paper, the short-range ordering structures of Ga melts has been investigated using the Wulff cluster model (WCM). The structures with a Wulff shape outside and crystal symmetry inside have been derived as the equivalent system to describe the short-range-order (SRO) distribution of the Ga melts. It is observed that the simulated HTXRD patterns of the Ga WCM are in excellent agreement with the experimental data at various temperatures (523 K, 623 K, and 723 K).

Traditional window glazing, with inherently adverse energy-efficient optical properties, leads to colossal energy losses. Energy-saving glass requires a customized optical design for different climate zones. Compared with the widely researched radiative cooling technology which is preferable to be used in low-altitude hot regions; conversely in high-latitude cold regions, high solar transmittance (T) and low mid-infrared thermal emissivity (ε) are the key characteristics of high-performance radiative warming window glass, while the current low-emissivity (low-e) glass is far from ideal.

Brain damage induced by ischemia promotes the development of cognitive dysfunction, thus increasing the risk of dementia such as Alzheimer's disease (AD). Studies indicate that cellular acidification-triggered activation of asparagine endopeptidase (AEP) plays a key role in ischemic brain injury, through multiple molecular pathways, including cleavage of its substrates such as SET (inhibitor 2 of PP2A, I ) and Tau. However, whether direct targeting AEP can effectively prevent post-stroke cognitive impairment (PSCI) remains unanswered.

The effects of sugar boiling pretreatment (SBP) with different maltitol concentrations (20 %, 30 %, and 40 %) and boiling time (0 - 6 min) on the physicochemical and functional properties of purple sweet potato flour and the radiofrequency explosion puffing (RFEP) quality were investigated. The results showed that the volume ratio, crispness, anthocyanin retention rate and overall acceptability of the samples were maximized after boiling for 6 min at 40 % maltitol concentration achieving increases of 78.63 %, 437.

Background: CD133 is regarded as a marker and target for cancer stem cells (CSCs) in various types of tumors, including hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC). The expressions of CD133 and programmed cell death ligand 1 (PD-L1) in CSCs exhibit a positive feedback regulatory effect. This effect promotes CSC proliferation and immune escape, ultimately leading to tumor progression and poor prognosis.

The metabolic pathway of aerobic glycolysis in tumor cells has garnered significant attention in tumor research because of its high activation in cancer cells. Previous research conducted by our team has demonstrated that Apolipoprotein M (APOM) exhibits potential as a factor against liver cancer. However, further investigations are needed to elucidate the precise approach and mechanism that are involved in this process.

Effective intratumoral distribution of anticancer agents with good tumor penetration is of great practical importance for oncotherapy. How to break the limitation of traditional passive drug delivery relying on blood circulatory system into solid tumors remains a challenge. Herein, a light-directed self-powered nanorobot based on zirconium-based porphyrin metal-organic framework (MOF) is reported for smart delivery of chemodrug and photosensitizer for deep tumor penetration.

Heteroatom-doped carbon materials are widely used to improve the electrocatalytic oxidation of methanol; however, the underlying mechanisms driving this enhancement remain poorly understood. A major challenge lies in developing non-doped carbon supports with tunable intrinsic defect types tailored for metal-based catalysts. In this study, we synthesize a series of ordered mesoporous carbon (OMC) supports with adjustable edge defect densities by varying roasting temperatures and employing a zinc (Zn) evaporation strategy to systematically investigate the impact of edge defects on methanol oxidation reaction (MOR) performance.

Up to half of hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) cases are diagnosed at an advanced stage, for which effective treatment options are lacking, resulting in a poor prognosis. Over the past few years, the combination of immune checkpoint inhibitors and anti-angiogenic targeted therapy has proven highly efficacious in treating advanced HCC, significantly extending patients' survival and providing a potential for sequential curative surgery. After sequential curative hepatectomy or liver transplantation following conversion therapy, patients can receive long-term survival benefits.

Background And Aims: Combining probiotics and prebiotics in synbiotics may present a synergistic approach to improve type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM); however, further evidence is required to establish the comparative efficacy of synbiotics versus probiotics. This study aimed to evaluate the effects of Bifidobacterium animalis subsp. lactis MN-Gup (MN-Gup) and a synbiotic mixture of MN-Gup and galactooligosaccharide (MN-Gup-GOS) on glycemic control in T2DM patients and explore possible mechanisms.

Short-chain fatty acid ethyl esters (SFAEEs) are critical aroma compounds in Baijiu, and their wider concentration range can lead to differences in the quality grade of Baijiu. Efficiently designing an SFAEEs adsorbent before instrument analysis remains challenging. In this work, nine functionalized covalent organic frameworks (COFs) with different postmodification groups were designed for targeting SFAEEs.

It has long been a decades-old dogma that image perception is mediated solely by rods and cones, while intrinsically photosensitive retinal ganglion cells (ipRGCs) are responsible only for non-image-forming vision, such as circadian photoentrainment and pupillary light reflexes. Surprisingly, we discovered that ipRGC activation enhances the orientation selectivity of layer 2/3 neurons in the primary visual cortex (V1) of mice by both increasing preferred-orientation responses and narrowing tuning bandwidth. Mechanistically, we found that the tuning properties of V1 excitatory and inhibitory neurons are differentially influenced by ipRGC activation, leading to a reshaping of the excitatory/inhibitory balance that enhances visual cortical orientation selectivity.

Background: To date, the effect of tau phosphorylation at different amino acid sites on the conformation and function of tau is still unclear in Alzheimer's disease (AD). Protein fingerprinting, also known as the protein folding shape code (PFSC) method, is a protein structure prediction technique based on protein sequence, which can reveal proteins' most likely spatial conformation.

Objective: To investigate the effect of phosphorylation on tau protein conformation using PFSC technology and further analyze the differences in the effect of phosphorylation on tau aggregation at specific sites.
