Thyroid diseases are increasingly prevalent, posing significant challenges to patients' quality of life and placing substantial financial burdens on families and society. Despite these impacts, the underlying pathophysiology of many thyroid conditions remains poorly understood, complicating efforts in treatment, management, and prevention. Observational studies can identify associations between exposure variables and disease; however, they often struggle to account for confounding factors and reverse causation.

Developing catalysts with high catalytic performance for the hydrogenation of 1,3-butadiene at low temperatures has become a research hotspot. In this study, bimetallic Pd-Co catalysts supported on AlO derived from MIL-53(Al) at various calcination temperatures were synthesised via the co-impregnation method.

ECA can be histologically classified into human papillomavirus-associated (HPVA) and non-HPVA (NHPVA) types. Given the variability in pathological features and clinical behavior between the subtypes, evaluating their respective immune microenvironments is essential.

Genome-wide screening has proven to be a powerful tool in identifying critical genes associated with the toxicity of exogenous substances. To identify undiscovered key genes involved in AAI-induced renal toxicity, a genome-wide CRISPR library screen was conducted in the human kidney-2 (HK-2) cell line.

Objective: To compare the pharmacokinetics and adverse effects of cisplatin administered via intravenous infusion for systemic chemotherapy (SC) versus injection into the perfusate during hyperthermic intrathoracic chemotherapy (HITHOC) or hyperthermic intraperitoneal chemotherapy (HIPEC).
Methods: Total 60 patients who received SC, HITHOC, or HIPEC in the Department of Oncology, Tangdu Hospital, were enrolled into this study. After administering same dose of cisplatin (40 mg) via either intravenous infusion (SC group) or injection into the perfusate during the HITHOC or HIPEC procedure, concentration of cisplatin in the plasma as well as in the hyperthermic perfusate at various time points was quantified by HPLC analysis.
Compared to the laboratory preparation of biochar, there is less research on the adsorption of antibiotics by industrial production of biochar in water. In this study, three types of industrial production biochar (peanut shell biochar, sludge biochar, and perishable waste biochar) were selected, and their adsorption performance for tetracycline in composite-polluted water was systematically studied. The results indicated that the Freundlich equation could well fit the adsorption isotherms of the three types of biochar for tetracycline.

Background: Cirrhosis is a significant risk factor for the development of hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC). Variability in HCC risk among patients with cirrhosis is notable, particularly when considering the diverse etiologies of cirrhosis.
Aim: To identify specific risk factors contributing to HCC development in patients with cirrhosis.
Objective: An increased risk of primary biliary cholangitis (PBC) has been reported in patients with systemic sclerosis (SSc). Our study aims to investigate the shared genetic susceptibility between the two disorders and to define candidate causal genes using cross-phenotype GWAS meta-analysis.
Methods: We performed cross-phenotype GWAS meta-analysis and Bayesian colocalization analysis for SSc and PBC.
To report a novel variation in the TRIM8 gene in a Chinese patient who developed focal segmental glomerulosclerosis (FSGS) and neurogenic bladder. Retrospective analysis of the clinical manifestations, laboratory results, renal biopsy results, and genetic data of the patient with FSGS complicated with neurogenic bladder. The patient was a 6-year and 8-month-old Chinese Zang ethnic boy with low-set ears, widely-spaced eyes (inner canthal distance exceeds the 95th percentile of normal inner canthal distance), a small jaw, and a short neck.

Identification of novel therapeutic targets and development of targeted drugs are one of the most feasible strategies for OS treatment. Ferroptosis, a recently discovered mode of programmed cell death, has been implicated as a potential strategy for cancer therapy.

This study investigated the vertical distribution characteristics of microplastics (MPs) to verify their potential toxicity, distribution patterns, and affecting probability on organisms offshore of the East China Sea (ECS), China. Significant variations in MP characteristics across stratified water layers were identified and corroborated through artificial neural network (ANN) analysis.

In recent years, miR-363 has emerged as a prominent member of the miR-92a family, participating in various biological functions, including cellular proliferation, cycle, migration, and apoptosis. In particular, miR-363 plays a critical role in acute kidney injury, renal fibrosis, and diabetic nephropathy and can serve as a biomarker for the diagnosis of renal cell carcinoma.

Background: The recent increase in the population of women in prison within the societal context of China has shifted attention towards understanding the unique psychological and social dynamics distinct from those traditionally associated with man offenders. Growing evidence suggests that childhood experiences of discrimination play a crucial role in shaping the aggressive behaviors observed among women in prison. This underscores the necessity for an in-depth examination of the psychological and societal foundations of these behaviors.

Here, we examine how radiation impacts the dissolution behavior of boehmite by subjecting dry nanoparticles of different sizes to Co γ radiation and subsequently analyzing their dissolution behavior in caustic solutions as a function of temperature. The measured kinetics show that irradiation with an amount 228.24 Mrad significantly slows the dissolution rate, particularly for smaller sizes at lower temperatures.

Methods: Using two-sample Mendelian randomisation (MR), our study examined the associations of genetically-predicted blood concentrations of lipids and lipoproteins (primary: LDL-C, HDL-C, triglycerides, and total cholesterol), and genetically-proxied inhibition of HMGCR, NPC1L1, and PCSK9 (which mimic therapeutic effects of LDL-lowering drugs), with risks of CRC and its subsites. Genetic associations with lipids were obtained from the Global Lipids Genetics Consortium (n = 1,320,016), while genetic associations with CRC were obtained from the largest existing CRC consortium (n = 58,221 cases and 67,694 controls).
An increasing number of studies have shown that lead is an important cardiovascular risk factor, but the impact of cardiovascular related gene polymorphisms on lead induced cardiovascular diseases is still unclear. To assess the interaction of lead exposure and related key cardiovascular regulating gene polymorphisms on blood pressure traits, three single-nucleotide polymorphisms including NOTCH1 rs3124591, Cerebral cavernous malformations 3 (CCM3) rs3804610 and Vascular endothelial growth factor receptor type 2 (VEGFR2) rs2305948 were selected and genotyped using improved multiplex ligase detection reaction method in 568 lead exposure workers in South China. General characteristics, blood lead and biochemical parameters including glucose, lipid profile and creatinine were also collected according to standard protocols.
