Association study of depressive symptoms and periodontitis in an obese population: Analysis based on NHANES data from 2009 to 2014.

Background: Obesity, depressive symptoms, and periodontitis are major worldwide health concerns. Despite separate studies on both illnesses, no research has directly examined the link between depressive symptoms and periodontitis in obese people. Given the close correlation between obesity and chronic illnesses, as well as the possibility of a bidirectional impact between depressive symptoms and periodontitis, this study aims to investigate the link between depressive symptoms and periodontitis in an obese population.

Association between periodontitis and cardiometabolic index (CMI): a study from NHANES 2009-2014.

Cardiometabolic index (CMI) is a novel anthropometric metric that integrates lipid and adiposity characteristics. The correlation between periodontitis development and CMI is ambiguous. The objective of this study was to establish the association between CMI and periodontitis by analyzing data from the NHANES (National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey) database.

Risk factors for ventricular arrhythmias after emergency percutaneous coronary intervention in elderly patients with acute myocardial infarction.

Objective: To explore the risk factors for ventricular arrhythmia after percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI) in elderly patients with acute myocardial infarction (AMI).

Methods: A retrospective cohort of 201 elderly AMI patients who underwent PCI in the emergency department of No. 215 Hospital of Shaanxi Nuclear Industry from April 2020 to January 2023 was analyzed.

The Harvest of a Lateral Segment of Costal Cartilage for Treating Nasal Deformities.

Background: Although costal cartilage has many uses and is a reliable source of cartilage for rhinoplasty procedures, donor-site complications may arise with conventional harvesting techniques. The present report reports a novel technique of harvesting costal cartilage using a specially designed scalpel and studies the use of the harvested cartilage in the reconstruction of secondary nasal deformities in patients with cleft lips.

Methods: Ten patients (7 females and 3 males) with nasal deformities secondary to cleft lip underwent rhinoplasty using this new technique at the Department of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery, Second Hospital of Hebei Medical University, China, between May 2011 and December 2013.
