Chemically driven micromotors exhibit a pronounced affinity for nearby surfaces, yet the quantification of this motor-wall interaction strength remains unexplored in experiments. Here, we apply an external force to a self-electrophoretic micromotor which slides along a wall and measures the force necessary to disengage the motor from the wall. Our experiments unveil that the required disengaging force increases with the strength of chemical driving, often surpassing both the motor's effective gravity and its propulsive thrust.

A new high-sensitivity, low-cost, Surface Enhanced Raman Spectroscopy (SERS) sensor allows for the rapid multiplex detection of foodborne pathogens in raw poultry. Self-assembled microspheres are used to pattern a hexagonal close-packed array of nanoantennas onto a side-polished multimode fiber core. Each microsphere focuses UV radiation to a photonic nanojet within a layer of photoresist on the fiber which allows the nanoantenna geometry to be controlled.

This work aims to study the visual matching cognition of people with different professional backgrounds for automobile interiors and exteriors, using gasoline-powered automobiles and electric automobiles as the research objects. First, three classes of automobiles, B-class, C-class, and sport-type class automobiles, of different brands, with large differences in styling and styles, were taken as the experimental sample sources, and high-definition interior and exterior pictures of the two power types of automobiles were randomly selected as the experimental samples. To overcome the time-resolution limitation inherent in the airflow-through scintillation cell method for radon measurement, this study introduces a compartmental model elucidating the behaviors of radon and its progeny within such cells. The computed results of the normalized equilibrium functions derived from the compartmental model, provide quantitative insights into the equilibrium progression of 222Rn and its progeny over time, substantiating the identified time-resolution limitation of 2-3 hours. Laboratory experiments confirm the efficacy of the proposed correction algorithm, showcasing its ability to surmount the time-resolution limitation and achieve a rapid response in radon measurement using airflow-through scintillation cells.

We report a systematic study on the barrier-crossing dynamics of bottom-heavy self-propelled particles (SPPs) over a one-dimensional periodic potential landscape (), which is fabricated on a microgroove-patterned polydimethylsiloxane (PDMS) substrate. From the measured steady-state probability density function (PDF) (;) of the SPPs with different self-propulsion forces , we find that the escape dynamics of slow-rotating SPPs over the periodic potential () can be well described by an activity-dependent potential (;) under the fixed angle approximation. A theoretical model is developed to include the effects of the gravitational-torque-induced alignment on the polar angle and the hydrodynamic wall alignment on the azimuthal angle as well as their influence on the self-propulsion speed .
