Article Synopsis
  • Benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH) is a common issue in older males, but how it develops is still not fully understood, prompting research into the role of sphingosine-1-phosphate (S1P) and its receptors (S1PRs) in the prostate.
  • The study found that S1P and its receptors are highly expressed in the prostate, and S1PR1, S1PR2, and S1PR3 are involved in promoting cell growth, muscle contraction, and reducing inflammation via various cellular pathways.
  • Treatment with S1P and specific receptor agonists led to prostate enlargement in rats, while antagonists of S1PR1 and S1PR3 reduced BPH symptoms

Technological advance in industry has complexity, divisibility, systematicity and market selectivity, and companies may generate technological investment expansion and form technological job demand, which may also lead to the occupation of company resources and trigger the replacement of the original jobs. This paper empirically examines the impact of technological advance in industry on the labour employment demand of companies by taking Chinese A-share listed companies as research samples from 2008 to 2022, and finds that: overall technological advance in industry has a suppressive effect on the labour employment demand of companies; The heterogeneity test shows that industrial technological advancement mainly produces inhibitory effects on the labour employment of low-education level employees and production sectors, while it produces incentive effects on the labour employment of high-education level employees and non-production sectors Industrial technological advancement mainly produces job substitution and destructive effects on the labour employment of low-education level employees and production sectors, while it produces incentive effects on the labour employment of high-education level employees and non-production sectors. Mechanism test shows that industrial technological advancement has incentive effects such as technology investment expansion effect and industry chain conduction effect, and also produces inhibitory effects such as enterprise resource occupation effect and employment delay effect.

  • Acute ischemic stroke (AIS) is a serious condition that can lead to complications like hemorrhagic transformation (HT) after mechanical thrombectomy (MT), particularly in patients with basal ganglia infarction (BGI).
  • A study of data from the DIRECT-MT trial found that patients with BGI had a notably higher risk of parenchymal hematoma (PH), with a 20% incidence compared to 11% in those without BGI.
  • The research highlights the need for personalized treatment strategies for AIS patients with BGI, as it significantly increases the risk of PH, while no link was found between BGI and hemorrhagic infarction (HI).

Article Synopsis
  • * Mice lacking the BCKDK enzyme in the liver showed normal blood sugar levels but had reduced glucose production and key gluconeogenic enzyme expression, while those lacking BCKDHA did not show these abnormalities.
  • * BT2 treatment inhibited BCKDK and reduced glucose production in liver cells, suggesting that BCKDK influences glucose production through specific proteins (CREB and FOXO1) without relying on BCKDHA's role in BCAA breakdown.

Genome-wide association studies (GWAS) have become increasingly popular for detecting numerous loci associated with intracranial aneurysm (IA), but how these loci function remains unclear. In this study, we employed an integrative analytical pipeline to efficiently transform genetic associations and identify novel genes for IA. Using multidimensional high-throughput data, we integrated proteome-wide association studies (PWAS), transcriptome-wide association studies (TWAS), Mendelian randomization (MR) and Bayesian co-localization analyses to prioritize genes that can increase IA risk by altering their expression and protein abundances in the brain and blood.
