Background: Gastric cancer (GC) is a deadly tumor with the fifth highest occurrence and highest global mortality rates. Owing to its heterogeneity, the underlying mechanism of GC remains unclear, and chemotherapy offers little benefit to individuals.
Aim: To investigate the clinical outcomes of and mutations in GC.

Background: Preoperative imatinib mesylate therapy for gastrointestinal stromal tumors (GISTs) is controversial. This study aimed to explore the clinical efficacy and optimal duration of preoperative imatinib mesylate (IM) therapy in patients with locally advanced and recurrent/metastatic GISTs.
Methods: We retrospectively examined patients who received preoperative imatinib mesylate therapy from January 2013 to December 2018 at Xiangya Hospital, Central South University and the Second Xiangya Hospital of Central South University, China.

Background: Dickkopf-1 (DKK1) recently has been reported to be involved in the progress of hepatocellular carcinoma, but its concrete role is not clear. The objective of this study is to investigate the clinical significance, biological function and molecular mechanism of DKK1 in the invasion and metastasis of hepatocellular carcinoma.
Methods: The mRNA and protein expression levels of DKK1 in hepatocellular carcinoma were detected and its prognostic significance was assessed.
Background: Imatinib mesylate has been the standard therapeutic treatment for chronic myeloid leukemia, advanced and metastatic gastrointestinal stromal tumor (GIST). It is well tolerated with mild adverse effects. Gynecomastia development during the course of treatment has been rarely reported.

Methods: We collected studies that have compared laparoscopy-assisted distal gastrectomy (LADG) and open distal gastrectomy (ODG) with D2 dissection for treatment of gastric cancer in the past 15 years. Data of interest for LADG and ODG were subjected to meta-analysis using a fixed-effect and random-effect model.
A small pointed hollow anode and large tabular cathode are used in enhanced glow discharge plasma immersion ion implantation (EGD-PIII). Electrons are repelled from the substrate by the electric field formed by the negative voltage pulses and concentrate in the vicinity of the anode to enhance the self-glow discharge process. To extend the application of EGD-PIII to plasma gases with low ionization rates, an insulating tube is used to increase the interaction path for electrons and neutrals in order to enhance the discharge near the anode.

Methods: Published studies fulfilling the selection criteria were identified by searching several databases online. After a methodology assessment using a quality scale designed by European Lung Cancer Working Party, data in each research were aggregated by means of meta-analysis.
The crystal structure of the bacterioferritin from Azotobacter vinelandii has been determined at 2.6 A resolution. Both the low occupancy of one iron ion in the dinuclear iron center and the deviation of its adjacent residue His130 from the center suggest migration of the iron ion from the dinuclear iron site to the inner nucleation site.

It is composed of 28 protein subunits which are arranged into four staggered heptameric rings. The outer rings consist of alpha-subunits which are responsible for binding of proteasome activators, inhibitors, and regulators.

Aim: To investigate the role of tri-iodothyronine supplement in protecting gut barrier in septic rats.
Methods: Twenty-two rats were randomized into three groups: sham group (n=6), sepsis group (n=8), and sepsis plus tri-iodothyronine (T(3)) group (n=8). Septic rat model was established through cecal ligation and puncture (CLP).
