Topological phases in two-dimensional (2D) systems have been attracting tremendous attention since the discovery of graphene. Since the experimental probing could proceed in the whole phonon spectrum, intensive research effort has been devoted to the topological quantum phases in phononic systems. Via first-principles calculations, we predict that a family of 2D hexagonal materials, XH (X = Si, Ge, Sn), hosts ideal linear nodal points (LNPs) and quadratic phononic nodal points (QNPs).

Herein, we show the feasibility of HER catalytic enhancement in Ni-based materials based on topological engineering from hybrid Weyl states. Via a high-throughput computational screening from ∼140,000 materials, we identify that a chiral compound NiSi is a hybrid Weyl semimetal (WSM) showing bulk type-I and type-II Weyl nodes and long surface Fermi arcs near the Fermi level.

To study the effect of edge-functionalized NPCs on the physisorption mechanism of sulfur dioxide, different functional groups were embedded at the edge of NPCs, and the physisorption behavior was simulated using the grand canonical Monte Carlo method (GCMC) combined with density functional theory (DFT). The results indicated that the insertion of acidic oxygenous groups or basic nitrogenous groups into NPCs could enhance the physisorption of SO.

View Article and Find Full Text PDFBackground: Brain metastases (BMs) are associated with poor prognosis and significant mortality, and approximately 25% of patients with non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC) develop BMs. The present study was aimed to understand the relationships between BM and NSCLC and reveal potential biomarkers and therapeutic targets in NSCLC-related BM.
Methods: The differentially expressed genes (DEGs) expressed during NSCLC and BM development were predicted by bioinformatics analysis, and the expression of the upstream transcription factor nuclear factor of activated T cells (NFAT) was confirmed as a differential gene expressed in both NSCLC and BM.
Background: Semi-glutinous japonica rice (SGJR) is increasingly a popular choice for rice consumption and more commonly cultivated in the middle and lower reaches of the Yangtze River in China. Here, 58 SGJR and 75 non-semi-glutinous japonica rice (NSGJR) cultivars were evaluated for their characteristics of grain quality by assessing the taste of cooked grains, flour/paste properties, chemical compositions and starch physicochemical properties.
Results: Comparisons of factors related to taste showed that cooked rice characteristics of SGJR were better in appearance, lower in hardness, lower in springiness and higher in stickiness.

Herein, by using the facile wet-chemistry method, we designed one new hybrid cadmium bromide of (HAEP)CdBr·2Br based on discrete octahedral [CdBr] units. In this work, we introduce a customized isothermal amplification integrated lateral flow strip (LFS) that is capable performing duplex reverse transcription-recombinase polymerase amplification (RT-RPA) and colorimetric LFS in a sequential manner. With customized amplification primer sets targeted to SARS-CoV-2 (opening reading frame 1a/b and nucleoprotein genes) and Flu viruses (Flu A and Flu B), the platform allows the rapid and simultaneous visual screening of SARS-CoV-2 and Flu viruses (Flu A and Flu B) without cross reactivity, false positives, and false negatives.

Our study found that AR could act as a tumor suppression gene to suppress HCC cells invasion and migration capacities miR-122-5p/RABL6 signaling, and the mechanism study further confirmed that miR-122-5p could suppress the expression of RABL6 to influence HCC cells progression by directly targeting the 3'UTR of the mRNA of RABL6.
