Glaucoma is a neurodegenerative disorder marked by the loss of retinal ganglion cells (RGCs) and axonal degeneration, resulting in irreversible vision impairment. While intraocular pressure (IOP) is presently acknowledged as the sole modifiable risk factor, the sensitivity of RGCs to IOP varies among individuals. Consequently, progressive vision loss may ensue even when IOP is effectively managed.

This study explores this adaptation in pepper (Capsicum annuum L.) under low-Pi stress, focusing on the PHOSPHATE STARVATION RESPONSE (PHR) gene family.

In the setting of HAPE, an early diagnosis is critical and currently based on clinical evaluation. The aim of this study was to utilize the metabolomics to identify the altered metabolic patterns and potential biomarkers for HAPE.

Background: Phenotypic age acceleration (PhenoAgeAccel) is a potential aging biomarker. While weekend catch-up sleep (WCS) is commonly practiced to compensate for weekday sleep deficits, its relationship with PhenoAgeAccel remains unclear.
Methods: In this cross-sectional study, we analyzed data from 7,683 participants in the National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey (NHANES).

Sepsis is defined as life-threatening organ dysfunction caused by a dysregulated host response to infection. Sepsis-associated acute kidney injury (SA-AKI) is a common organ dysfunction of sepsis, and its incidence and mortality are increasing, which brings heavy economic burden to patients and society. Early diagnosis and effective intervention can block the occurrence and progression of SA-AKI effectively, improve prognosis, and reduce medical costs.

Methods: Eligible ultrasonographers and pregnant volunteers were prospectively recruited from the Hunan Maternal and Child Health Hospital in May 2023. The ultrasonographers were randomly and evenly assigned to either the AI or Manual QC groups with baseline scores determined in June-July.
Aim: This study investigated the major factors contributing to the missed diagnosis of total anomalous pulmonary venous connection (TAPVC) in fetal echocardiography.
Methods: We retrospectively analyzed the prenatal ultrasonic images of 32 fetuses with missed diagnoses of TAPVC, compared them with autopsy and postnatal surgical records, and summarized the most likely reasons leading to the missed diagnoses.
Results: We studied a total of 157 fetuses with TAPVC, 32 (20.
The problem of rapid degradation of the operating voltage and discharge specific capacity of lithium-rich layered oxide (LRMs) cathode materials is a major constraint for their commercial application. In this paper, CoS coating with a 3D layered structure assisted by PVP is used to enhance the cycle life and rate performance of the LRMs material. The introduction of PVP has the following effects: (1) it reduces the solubility of CoS in the electrolyte solution and forms a stable CoS coating, and (2) it acts as a nitrogen-containing carbon matrix material and the heteroatomic dopant, and can provide more active sites to improve the conductivity of CoS.

It is challenging for dermatologists to distinguish this condition from other erythematous diseases, and it is sometimes misdiagnosed as psoriasis.

To reduce the effects of these problems, a carbon-coated coaxial cable-like ZnO@SiO@C composite material was prepared. ZnO has a certian electronic conductivity and an electrochemical activity, and the carbon layer can alleviate the volume variation of SiO, effectively improving the electronic conductivity and structural stability.

Microbial culture collections play a crucial role in the collection, maintenance, and distribution of quality-assured living microbial strains, along with their associated phenotypic and omics data. To enhance the find-able, accessible, interoperable, and re-usable (FAIR) data utilization of microbial resources, the World Data Center for Microorganisms (WDCM) has developed the Global Catalogue of Microorganisms (GCM) and the Global Catalogue of Type Strains (gcType). These platforms provide interactive interfaces for cataloging the holdings of collections, along with detailed annotations of type strain genomes and curated metadata, including ecosystems, growth conditions, and collection locations.

The iron‒carbon microelectrolysis coupled with constructed wetlands (ICME‒CWs) represents a promising new type of CWs, capable of removing typical and emerging pollutants in water through various mechanisms including adsorption, precipitation, oxidation‒reduction, microelectrolysis, and plant‒microbial synergy. Therefore, this review summarizes the sources, preparation, and basic properties of the ICME substrate commonly used in ICME‒CWs in recent years.

The sowing depth stability and consistency of the no-tillage planter, particularly the high-speed operation, are poor. A reason for this is that the structure and parameter selection of no-tillage planter row unit profiling mechanism are unreasonable. The stability and consistency of sowing depth is beneficial when the upper and lower links of the parallel 4-bar profiling mechanism (PFPM) are parallel to the ground, but this principle is not satisfied on the uneven no-till soil.

This study examines the therapeutic effects of Shengmai Powder (SMP) on both in vitro and in vivo models of chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) and the underlying mechanisms. Cigarette smoke and cigarette extracts were used to create in vitro and in vivo models of COPD. ELISA was used to measure the levels of pro-inflammatory factors (IL-6, TNF-α, and IL-1β) in mouse lung tissue and alveolar macrophages.

However, there is currently insufficient evidence on insomnia symptoms among doctors and nurses under the context of high prevalence of multiple infectious diseases after the pandemic in China. The purpose of this study was to analyze the prevalence of insomnia symptoms among doctors and nurses in third-grade class-A general hospitals under the context of high prevalence of multiple infectious diseases, and to explore the influence of demographic characteristics, work-related factors, health and lifestyle-related factors on insomnia symptoms.

These findings were the major reasons for the under-usage of the bladder preservation strategy. Hence, we aim to explore the reliable markers in identifying pathological complete response (ypCR) status in MIBC patients who achieved clinical complete response (cCR) after NAC.

Background: It is unknown how cancer cells override apoptosis and maintain progression under nutrition-deprived conditions within the tumor microenvironment. Phosphoenolpyruvate carboxykinase (PEPCK or PCK) catalyzes the first rate-limiting reaction in gluconeogenesis, which is an essential metabolic alteration that is required for the proliferation of cancer cells under glucose-limited conditions. However, if PCK-mediated gluconeogenesis affects apoptotic cell death of non small cell lung cancer (NSCLC) and its potential mechanisms remain unknown.
