This study explores the use of in situ cross-linked hyaluronic acid methacryloyl (HAMA) and hydroxyapatite particles (HAP) for bone defect repair. Human periodontal ligament stem cells (PDLSCs) were isolated and co-cultured with the HAMA-HAP composite. Osteogenic differentiation was evaluated using Alizarin Red staining, alkaline phosphatase activity quantification, and polymerase chain reaction (PCR).

The present study aimed to investigate the role of magnitude in adaptive response of osteoblasts exposed to compressive stress. Murine primary osteoblasts and MC3T3-E1 cells were exposed to compressive stress (0, 1, 2, 3, 4, and 5 g/cm) in 3D culture. Cell viability was evaluated, and expression levels of Runx2, Alp, Ocn, Rankl, and Opg were examined.

The monomers of peptide nucleic acids containing 5-halouracils (5-XU-PNA), incorporated into heptameric PNA in the middle position, have been synthesized. Thermodynamic analyses revealed that the heptameric PNA oligomer with DNA and RNA showed higher duplex stability compared to the unmodified PNA counterpart. NMR studies suggested that the electron withdrawing effect of the halogen atom increased the strength of the XU-A hydrogen bond.

Background: The molecular mechanism underlying broiler fat deposition is still poorly understood.

Method: Currently, we used two-dimensional gel electrophoresis (2DE) to identify differentially expressed proteins in abdominal adipose tissues of birds at 4 week of age derived from Northeast Agricultural University broiler lines divergently selected for abdominal fat content (NEAUHLF).

Results: Thirteen differentially expressed protein spots were screened out and identified by matrix-assisted laser desorption-ionization time-of-flight mass spectrometry (MALDI-TOF-MS).

Introduction: We analyze the outcome of circumcisions performed with 8-figure non-absorbable suture (8FNS) and assess the feasibility of using the technique in male circumcision.

Methods: We randomly divided 317 patients who would undergo circumcision between February 2009 and January 2012 into 2 groups. Each group was subdivided into children (age range: 7 to 15 years) and adult (range: 16 to 85 years).

Background: Survivin and livin are novel members of the inhibitor of apoptosis gene family (IAP) that controls mitotic progression and induces tumor cell invasion. This study aims to evaluate the association of both expression with clinical outcomes and risk of recurrence in patients with non-muscle invasive bladder cancer (NIMBC).

Patients And Methods: We investigated the expression of survivin and livin in 72 NMIBC samples using immunohistochemical staining (Envision Method).
