We show that the valence states of surface phosphorus species are critical in tuning the affinity between the carbon support and metal precursors, which rationally controls the loading size and uniformity of resultant PMNCs. Five kinds of PMNCs, including Ru, Ag, Au, Rh, and Pd, were grown in situ to demonstrate the key role of surface phosphorus sites on the P-C support.

Sixteen polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (PAHs) were quantified by GC/MS in 30 soil samples of Liaohe estuarine reed wetland. The total concentrations of 16 PAHs ranged from 235 to 374 ng g, and seven carcinogenic PAHs concentrations were in the range of 83-109 ng g. A probabilistic carcinogenic potential for three age groups (including children, teenagers, and adults) exposed to soil PAHs via three pathways was quantitatively calculated based on Monte Carlo simulations.

Methods: We retrospectively reviewed 703 newly diagnosed PCa patients who were referred for bone scintigraphy. The association between age, prostate specific antigen (PSA), Gleason score (GS) and bone scintigraphy result were investigated by series of crude or stratified analysis.
Background: Current evidence indicates that miR-608 is widely down-regulated in various malignant tumors including liver cancer, colon cancer, lung cancer and glioma, and acts as a tumor suppressor by inhibiting cell proliferation, invasion and migration or by promoting apoptosis. The specific biological function of miR-608 in bladder cancer is still unknown.
Methods: qRT-PCR and Chromogenic in Situ Hybridization (CISH) was conducted to assess the expression of miR-608 in paired BCa tissues and adjacent non-tumor bladder urothelial tissues.
Electrocatalytic properties of ligand-free gold nanoclusters (AuNCs, <2 nm) grown on nitrided carbon supports (denoted as AuNCs@N-C) were evaluated for the oxidation of representative organic molecules including alcohols, an amine, and deoxyguanosine in oligonucleotides. AuNCs@N-C catalysts were incorporated into films of architecture {PDDA/AuNCs@N-C} by using layer-by-layer assembly with oppositely charged poly(diallyldimethylammonium) (PDDA) on pyrolytic graphite (PG) electrodes. Cyclic voltammetry and electrochemical impedance spectroscopy (EIS) were used to survey the electrocatalytic properties of these AuNCs@N-C films.

A general synthetic methodology is reported to grow ultrafine cobalt-based nanoparticles (NPs, 2-7 nm) within high-surface-area mesoporous carbon (MC) frameworks. Our design strategy is based on colloidal amphiphile (CAM) templated oxidative self-polymerization of dopamine.
