Background & Aims: The aim of this study was to investigate the persistence of Lugol-unstained lesions (LULs) in the esophagus detected by chromoendoscopy and explore their association with progression to malignancy.
Methods: We enrolled 647 participants from a population-based screening trial who had biopsied LULs at the baseline chromoendoscopy and underwent a chromoendoscopy re-examination after a median of 4.39 years.
During sunflower growth, cold waves often occur and impede plant growth. Therefore, it is crucial to study the underlying mechanism of cold resistance in sunflowers. In this study, physiological analysis revealed that as cold stress increased, the levels of ROS, malondialdehyde, ascorbic acid, and dehydroascorbic acid and the activities of antioxidant enzymes increased.

Accumulating evidence indicates that the vertebrate PCP pathway is regulated by noncanonical, β-catenin-independent Wnt signaling; however, the signaling components and mechanisms are incompletely understood. In the mouse hearing organ, both PCP and noncanonical Wnt (ncWnt) signaling are required in the developing auditory sensory epithelium to control cochlear duct elongation and planar polarity of resident sensory hair cells (HCs), including the shape and orientation of the stereociliary hair bundle essential for sound detection.

Purpose: To assess the microvasculature in the optic nerve head (ONH) and macula across the primary angle closure disease (PACD) spectrum using optical coherence tomography angiography (OCTA).
Materials And Methods: OCTA (AngioVue, Fremont, CA) imaging was performed on 122 PACD subjects.
Background: With the progress of industrialization and urbanization, cadmium (Cd) pollution in farmland is increasingly severe, greatly affecting human health. Sunflowers possess high resistance to Cd stress and great potential for phytoremediation of Cd-contaminated soil. Previous studies have shown that humic acid (HA) effectively mitigates plant damage induced by Cd; however, its alleviating effects on sunflower plants under Cd stress remain largely unknown.

Nanoparticle is potentially to be used in cryopreservation technology for its unique characteristics with high biocompatibility, potent antioxidant property as well as superiority in membrane permeation and heat transduction. However, the effect of nanoparticle on ovine oocyte cryopreservation as well as the underlying mechanism has not been systematically evaluated.

Materials And Methods: HaCaT cells co-stimulated with interleukin (IL)-17, IL-22, tumor necrosis factor-alpha (TNF-α), IL-1α, and oncostatin M (M5) were used as an in vitro cell model of psoriasis.
Background: Metabolic syndrome (MetS) is a risk factor for cardiovascular disease (CVD), and CVD is a major challenge for cancer patients. This study aimed to investigate the prevalence and association of MetS and CVD among adult cancer patients.
Methods: This cross-sectional study included cancer patients aged > 18 years from the National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey (NHANES) from 2007 to 2018.
Zinc (Zn)-based biodegradable metals (BMs) fabricated through conventional manufacturing methods exhibit adequate mechanical strength, moderate degradation behavior, acceptable biocompatibility, and bioactive functions. Consequently, they are recognized as a new generation of bioactive metals and show promise in several applications. However, conventional manufacturing processes face formidable limitations for the fabrication of customized implants, such as porous scaffolds for tissue engineering, which are future direction towards precise medicine.

Nevertheless, the mechanism behind mitochondrial dysfunction in RA remains uncertain. Accordingly, this review addresses the possible role and mechanisms of mitochondrial dysfunction in RA and discusses the potential and challenges of mitochondria as a potential therapeutic strategy for RA, thereby providing a breakthrough point in the prevention and treatment of RA.

Generally, the gold standard for diagnosing anemia relies on laboratory measurements of hemoglobin. To meet the need in clinical practice, physicians often rely on visual examination of specific areas, such as conjunctiva, to assess pallor.

Data were retrospectively obtained from individuals who underwent physical examinations at Guangzhou Cadres Health Management Centre from May 2022 to May 2023. t Test, variance analysis, and chi-square test were used to compare the score of dampness syndrome and the prevalence of hypertriglyceridemia among different subgroups.

Methods: A retrospective and exploratory data analysis was conducted using FLOW 800 software prior to anastomosis to assess four regions of interest (ROIs; proximal and distal recipients and adjacent and remote gyri) for four hemodynamic parameters (speed, delay, rise time, and time to peak). Medical records were used to classify patients into flow and no-flow groups based on immediate or perioperative anastomosis patency.
The development of multicellular organisms requires coordinated changes in gene expression that are often mediated by the interaction between transcription factors (TFs) and their corresponding cis-regulatory elements (CREs). During development and differentiation, the accessibility of CREs is dynamically modulated by the epigenome. How the epigenome, CREs, and TFs together exert control over cell fate commitment remains to be fully understood.

We investigated the relationship between fecal gut microbiome (GM) and intestinal tissue miRNAs in different stages of pediatric CD. Metagenomic analysis and miRNA sequencing were conducted to examine the GM and intestinal miRNA profiles of CD patients before and after clinical induction therapy and the controls.

Here, we generated a single-nucleus multiome atlas derived from the postmortem prefrontal cortex, entorhinal cortex, and hippocampus of nine individuals with or without sEOAD. Comprehensive analyses were conducted to delineate cell type-specific transcriptomic changes and linked candidate -regulatory elements (cCREs) across brain regions.
