Anatomical variations in the aortic bifurcation in new zealand white rabbits on arteriography.

The radiologic anatomy of the aortic bifurcation in the rabbit has received little study but it is important as this anatomical area is widely used in atherosclerosis research. Thirty rabbits were used to study the aortic bifurcation and subsequent branching patterns on arteriography. Fifteen different arteries were identified.

[The rabbit as an experimental model: technique for the induction of vascular lesions and incidents].

Objective: To describe the process for inducing atherogenic lesions in rabbits, to show the damage to vessels caused by two different caliber balloon catheters, and to show the usefulness of ultrasonography in the quantification of vascular damage.

Material And Methods: We used 36 rabbits. We studied the levels of triglycerides and cholesterol and examined the aorta and iliac arteries by ultrasonography.

Aseptic meningitis (AM) is a disease that causes grave clinical signs such as intensive neck pain, fever, and lethargy. The severity of this disease is reflected in the fact that affected animals require long-term, and in chronic cases, lifelong therapy with corticosteroids. A number of dogs must be euthanized because of therapeutic failure.

Anatomic and computed tomographic atlas of the head of the newborn bottlenose dolphin (Tursiops truncatus).

The head of a newborn dolphin (Tursiops truncatus), that died shortly after birth was imaged using computed tomography (CT). Gross cross-sectional slices of the head were compared with the CT images to identify normal structures of the cranium, brain, and respiratory and digestive pathways. Labelled transverse CT images of the dolphin head are presented sequentially as a reference for normal anatomy.

Computed tomographic diagnosis of unilateral cavernous sinus syndrome caused by a chondrosarcoma in a dog: a case report.

An eight-year old Rottweiler dog was presented with signs of enophthalmia, ptosis, anisocoria and mydriasis of the right eye, which showed visual disturbance, reduced or absent reflexes, and ophthalmoplegia. Consensual pupillary light reflex was also absent in the left eye. These neurological deficits were compatible with cavernous sinus syndrome.

Ultrasonographic characterization of the uterine artery in the nonestrus bitch.

The canine species is often used as an experimental animal model in medicine. Doppler ultrasound of uterine arteries has important clinical implications in obstetrics and gynecology in women and animal species. To our knowledge, the ultrasonographic features of uterine arteries in the bitch have not been reported.

Enzymuria as an index of renal damage in canine leishmaniasis.

Urinary enzyme activities of alanine aminopeptidase, gamma-glutamyl transpeptidase, alkaline phosphatase, N-acetyl-beta-D-glucosaminidase and beta-glucuronidase were determined in 15 dogs with leishmaniasis and in a group of eight normal dogs. Serum creatinine and blood urea nitrogen concentrations were also measured and renal histology was examined. All the affected dogs had renal lesions.

Ultrasonographic diagnosis of an adrenocortical carcinoma in a dog.

The ultrasonographic findings in a nine-year-old female Drahthaar with an adrenocortical carcinoma of the left adrenal gland are described. Examination of the abdomen revealed a large, hypoechoic mass cranial to the left kidney. Areas of calcification inside the mass and the lateral displacement of the caudal vena cava were assessed.
