Background: Multiple sequence alignment (MSA) has proven extremely useful in computational biology, especially in inferring evolutionary relationships via phylogenetic analysis and providing insight into protein structure and function. An alternative to the standard MSA model is partial order alignment (POA), in which aligned sequences are represented as paths in a graph rather than rows in a matrix. While the POA model has proven useful in several applications (e.

The COVID-19 pandemic has caused changes in the lives of many university students around the globe, including students at Maria Curie-Skłodowska University in Lublin, Poland. Isolation, a sense of threat, and the transition to remote learning resulted in numerous, mainly psychological, negative consequences for students. The university aimed to provide students with effective assistance during the COVID-19 pandemic.

The aim of the study was to find out (a) how challenging for inmates were the selected COVID-19 pandemic-related changes and stressors, (b) what moods and emotions are most commonly experienced by prisoners just after the difficult period of the COVID-19 pandemic, and (c) which of the selected factors determine the positive and negative mood of inmates.
Methods: The research was conducted in July 2022 in six randomly selected Polish prisons.
The need to include the genetic variation within a population into a reference genome led to the concept of a genome sequence graph. Nodes of such a graph are labeled with DNA sequences occurring in represented genomes. Due to double-stranded nature of DNA, each node may be oriented in one of two possible ways, resulting in marking one end of the labeling sequence as in-side and the other as out-side.

Authors discussed the problem of relations between hypothalamus neuroregulation and pathogenesis of endocrine disturbances which suggest the organic cause of obesity, hirsutism and secondary amenorrhea among women diagnosed with paranoid schizophrenia. Actual antipsychotic pharmacological treatment, including some side-effects: the metabolic (obesity) and the endocrine (hyperprolactinemia) ones were considered.

The presented model is based on the combination of group psychotherapy, individual psychotherapy and pharmacotherapy with respect to the individual needs of a patient. Psychotherapy was more effective in patients with a lower educational level and those married.

The aim of present study was to determine the role of the ARPC in the development of the renovascular hypertension in 1-kidney 1-clip model in the rat. Experiments were performed on male Wistar rats.

Animals were divided into three groups. In the control group (I), in order to eliminate the ARPC tissue between the adrenal gland and the ipsilateral kidney was cut.

Design And Methods: The experiments were performed on male rats weighing 300-400 g each, of the following strains: Wistar outbred, Wistar Glaxo, Lewis, Wistar-Kyoto (WKY) rats bred for high blood pressure (138 +/- 13.2 mmHg), WKY rats bred without the control of blood pressure (118 +/- 12.9 mmHg) and borderline hypertensive rats (BHR).

1. The aim of the present study was to investigate the effect of an acute increase in blood flow through the adrenal-renal vascular connection (ARVC), due to occlusion of the adrenal vein, on renal blood flow (RBF) and renal vascular resistance (RVR). 2.

In the present study we have found increased concentration of 2,3 diphosphoglycerate (2,3-DPG) in red blood cells of spontaneously hypertensive rats (SHR) of Okamoto-Aoki strain. As 2,3-DPG is the major factor decreasing haemoglobin affinity to oxygen, our finding suggests that at given value of pO2 oxygen delivery to the tissue of SHR would be increased.

The aim of the present study is to investigate the role of above connection in regulation of renal vascular resistance (RVR), and renal blood flow (RBF) during decrease in blood pressure in the rat. Animals were divided into three groups.

The direct adreno-renal vascular connection allows precise control of the kidney function by hormones produced by the adrenal gland, without any significant changes in their content in the whole blood. The purpose of the present study is to investigate the effect of the increased blood flow through the vascular network on the blood pressure. In twelve Wistar rats the central adrenal veins were ligated bilaterally.
