This study evaluated the short-term effects of a modest salt intake reduction combined with the Chinese Modified Dietary Approaches to Stop Hypertension (CM-DASH) diet on sodium and potassium intake, mean arterial pressure (MAP), and pulse pressure (PP) in hypertensive patients with type II diabetes.

The present study is a phase I clinical trial involving 43 hypertensives in which the effect of 18% sodium substitute salt on the home blood pressure variability (BPV) was observed for 8 weeks with weekly follow-up. Finally, 4 patients were lost, and 39 patients completed the intervention and were included in the analysis.

Methods: Twenty normal adults were examined with fast imaging employing steady-state(Fiesta) acquisition sequence of cardiac MRI, LV global function and LV region function were measured at basal, middle, apical level and at 16 LV segments. The regional function parameters among different levels and different segments of the same level were analyzed.
