Toll-like receptors 2, 3 and 4 (TLR-2, TLR-3 and TLR-4) are expressed in the microenvironment of human acquired cholesteatoma.

Human toll-like receptors (TLR 1-10) are crucial in the induction and activation of innate immunity in the course of an infection. They are expressed mainly on the cells of the immune system, and also on some epithelia and endothelia. Their ligands so called pathogen associated molecular patterns are abundant on invading microbes.

[The impact of iodine prophylaxis programme on thyroid gland morphology and function in children and adolescents from the Mazowieckie Voivodship].

The project was realised within the multicentre research programme no PBZ038-08. In all, 2967 children aged 11-18 years were examined, including 1712 girls and 1255 boys. The tested children came from the Mazowieckie Voivodship.

The properties of the thyroid hormone binding to rat heart cytosol were studied. Cytosol proteins were found to bind specifically T4 with high affinity (Ka approximately equal to 10(8)M-1) and rT3 with lower affinity (Ka approximately equal to 10(7)M-1), but they do not bind T3. The binding of both T4 and rT3 was pH dependent, however, while T4 binding had the highest values between pH 7.
