Background: The knowledge, confidence, and skills of healthcare consumers to identify acute clinical deterioration and appropriately escalate concerns remain largely undetermined. This gap is despite the widespread international introduction of consumer escalation systems intended to provide patients and family an avenue to escalate their concerns if worried about deterioration in their own or relative's condition during a hospital stay.
Aim: To explore patient and family knowledge of acute clinical deterioration, and their confidence and perceived barriers to escalating their concerns.
Background: The use of anticoagulation therapy (ACT) in trauma patients during the postinjury period presents a challenge given the increased risk of hemorrhage. Guidelines regarding whether and when to initiate ACT are lacking, and as a result, practice patterns vary widely. The purpose of this study is to describe the incidence of hemorrhagic complications in patients who received ACT during their hospitalization, identify risk factors, and characterize the required interventions.

Pregnant and lactating individuals historically have been excluded from research studies because of the ethical concerns surrounding potential harm to the fetus.
