The objective of this study was to provide contemporary data on the epidemiology of gastrointestinal nematode parasite infections of grazing yearling beef cattle in the province of Saskatchewan. Fecal samples ( = 1290) were collected over 4 time periods during the summer grazing season from 21 separately managed groups of cattle. Fecal egg counts (FEC) were estimated using generalized estimating equations with a negative binomial distribution with log link function, adjusting for clustering of samples within each herd for each time period.

Article Synopsis
  • Comprehensive tort reform in Texas, enacted in 2003, correlated with significant increases in complaints and disciplinary actions against physicians by the Texas Medical Board (TMB) from 2004 to 2010.
  • The study analyzed TMB data over a 15-year period and found that complaints rose by 13%, investigations by 33%, disciplinary actions by 96%, and financial penalties by 367%.
  • The results suggest that while tort reform aimed to reduce litigation, it also led to increased oversight and regulation of medical professionals, evidenced by the substantial rise in TMB activities post-reform.
