Effect of Tai-chi on balance, mood, cognition, and quality of life in women with multiple sclerosis: A one-year prospective study.

Introduction: One of the most debilitating problems encountered by people with multiple sclerosis (MS) is the loss of balance and coordination. Our study aimed to comprehensively evaluate the effectiveness of one year of Tai-chi exercise in patients with MS using both subjective and objective methods, including posturography.

Methods: This was a single-group longitudinal one-year study performed from the 1st of January 2019 to the 1st of January 2020.

HMGB1 as a potential new marker of disease activity in patients with multiple sclerosis.

Objectives: Neuroinflammation represents one of the two major pathological components of multiple sclerosis (MS). The aim of our study was to find the role of the late pro-inflammatory cytokine HMGB1 (high mobility group box) in MS pathogenesis.

Subjects And Methods: A total of 165 patients from three MS centers in Slovakia were enrolled in the study.

Objectives: Multiple sclerosis is a chronic inflammatory and autoimmune demyelinating disease of the brain and spinal cord. Long-term effect of rituximab in a case with late-onset Rasmussen´s encephalitis with anti-ganglioside IgGQ1b and anti-GAD antibodies positivity. Case Report.

Rasmussen's encephalitis is a rare autoimmune encephalitis usually involving one brain hemisphere, presenting with refractory epileptic seizures, and neurological and cognitive decline. Only 10% of cases start later in adolescence/adulthood. The only effective treatment for refractory seizures in childhood is hemispherectomy.

VLA4 Gene Polymorphism and Susceptibility to Multiple Sclerosis in Slovaks.

Multiple sclerosis (MS) is an inflammatory autoimmune disease occurring in genetically sensitive individuals. As migration of immune cells into the CNS is facilitated by the Very Late Antigen 4 (VLA-4) integrin molecule, the VLA4 gene may be considered as a plausible candidate genetic risk factor for susceptibility to MS. Therefore, the objective of our study was to investigate the association between two genetic polymorphisms located in the VLA4 gene and the risk of multiple sclerosis.

Idiopathic intracranial hypertension: a retrospective clinical study.

Background: Idiopathic intracranial hypertension is a disorder characterized by an increased intracranial pressure, without deformity and obstruction of the ventricular system. There is a predilection of occurrence in obese women of childbearing age. The pathogenesis of idiopathic intracranial hypertension is likely related to abnormalities in the balance between production and drainage of cerebrospinal fluid.

[Larva migrans syndrome or ocular toxocariasis].

Thirteen cases of ocular toxocariasis attended in the Oftalmology Service of the Pediatric Hospital "Niño Jesús", from Córdoba; and in the Parasitology and Micology Cathedra of the Medicine Collegue of the University of Córdoba were studied from July 1993 till July 1995. The authors determine the needs of taking into account this parasitosis; above all in children and with the antecedent of contact with pets.
