Background: Telemedicine is increasingly used within healthcare worldwide. More is known about its efficacy in treating different conditions and its application to different contexts than about service-users' and practitioners' experiences or how best to support implementation.

Aims: To review adult service-users' experiences of synchronous video consultations with nurses, allied health professionals and psychological therapists, find out how consultations impact different groups of service-users and identify requirements for their conduct at individual, organisational, regional, and national levels.

Attitudes of women towards intimate partner violence in Guyana: A cross-sectional analytical study.

Background: To assess the attitudes of women towards intimate partner violence (IPV) in Guyana.

Methods: We used national data from the publicly available Multiple Indicator Cluster Survey (MICS) conducted in Guyana in 2019 for women aged 15 to 49 years. The prevalence of women who agreed that a husband is justified in beating his wife was analyzed.

Ex vivo biomechanical evaluation of an adhered fiberglass and polymethyl methacrylate sole-hoof wall cast on stabilization of type III distal phalanx fractures under simulated physiologic midstance loads.

Objective: To evaluate the effect of the application of a novel fiberglass-glue cast (FGC) on the fracture gap width in experimentally created type III distal phalanx fractures in cadaveric specimens under simulated physiologic loads.

Introduction: Psychological wellbeing in university students is receiving increased focus. However, to date, few longitudinal studies in this population have been conducted. As such, in 2019, we established the Student Wellbeing At Northern England Universities (SWANS) cohort at the University of York, United Kingdom aiming to measure student mental health and wellbeing every six months.

Closure of a patent ductus arteriosus in a 2-week-old llama cria using an Amplatz canine duct occluder.

A two-week-old female llama cria was brought to the UC Davis Large Animal Hospital for evaluation of a cardiac murmur and suspected syncopal episodes. A grade IV/VI left basilar continuous murmur was present on cardiac auscultation. Validation of a dedicated positron emission tomography scanner for imaging of the distal limb of standing horses.

A positron emission tomography (PET) scanner, with an openable ring of detectors, was specifically designed to image the distal limb of standing horses. The goals of this prospective, preclinical, experimental, methods comparison study were to validate the safety of the scanner, assess image quality, and optimize scanning protocols. Six research horses were imaged three times (twice standing, once anesthetized) and six horses in active race training were imaged once under standing sedation.

Reductions in circulating B cell subsets and immunoglobulin G levels with long-term belimumab treatment in patients with SLE.

Objective: To examine the long-term changes in circulating B cell subsets and IgG levels at 5+ years of continuous belimumab treatment and their correlations with efficacy and safety measures.

Methods: This was a post hoc analysis of a continuation study (BEL112233; NCT00724867) of eligible US patients who completed the 76-week BLISS-76 Study (BEL110751; NCT00410384), with up to eight calendar-years of follow-up and median (IQR) belimumab exposure of 310 (209, 364) weeks. From week 76, patients initially randomised to intravenous belimumab 1 mg/kg or 10 mg/kg every 4 weeks in BLISS-76 continued to receive the same dose in the continuation study, while those initially randomised to placebo received belimumab 10 mg/kg intravenous every 4 weeks during continuation.

Ethnic discrimination, social cohesion, and mental health among Latinx adults.

The negative effects of ethnic discrimination on depression symptoms have led researchers to identify potential risk and protective variables of this relationship. While some studies have focused on individual level factors, little research has explored the role of community-level variables, or the combination of both. The present study of Latinx adults ( = 304) tested a moderated mediation model to examine if alcohol use was a mediator of ethnic discrimination and depression under certain levels of social cohesion.

Inhaled treprostinil and forced vital capacity in patients with interstitial lung disease and associated pulmonary hypertension: a post-hoc analysis of the INCREASE study.

Background: INCREASE was a randomised, placebo-controlled, phase 3 trial that evaluated inhaled treprostinil in patients with interstitial lung disease (ILD) and associated pulmonary hypertension. Treprostinil improved exercise capacity from baseline to week 16, assessed with the use of a 6-min walk test, compared with placebo. Improvements in forced vital capacity (FVC) were also reported.

Acute knee clinics are effective in reducing delay to diagnosis following anterior cruciate ligament injury.

Background: Delays to diagnosis of anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) injury and specialist consultation continue to place patients at risk of early onset osteoarthritis. Incorporating acute knee clinics within a streamlined accident and emergency (A&E) pathway have shown potential in reducing delay but specific evaluative research is lacking. The aim of this service evaluation was to investigate the effectiveness of an acute knee clinic at one NHS Trust in the United Kingdom (UK), on reducing the delay to diagnosis of ACL injury and specialist consultation compared to a standard A&E pathway.

Serum and cerebrospinal fluid phosphorylated neurofilament heavy protein concentrations in equine neurodegenerative diseases.

Background: Currently, there is little information regarding the concentrations of phosphorylated neurofilament heavy protein (pNfH) in the serum and cerebrospinal fluid (CSF) of horses with neurodegenerative diseases. Specifically, pNfH concentrations have not yet been evaluated in horses with equine neuroaxonal dystrophy/equine degenerative myeloencephalopathy (eNAD/EDM).

A multicenter retrospective study of patients with pulmonary hypertension transitioned from inhaled to oral treprostinil.

Oral treprostinil has recently been shown to delay disease progression in patients with pulmonary arterial hypertension in a long-term outcomes study. The potential advantages of an oral formulation have resulted in patients transitioning from inhaled to oral treprostinil. The current study reports a retrospective analysis of patients who transitioned from treatment with inhaled to oral treprostinil.

Impact of inhaled treprostinil on risk stratification with noninvasive parameters: a post hoc analysis of the TRIUMPH and BEAT studies.

The 2015 European Society of Cardiology/European Respiratory Society treatment guidelines recommend frequent risk assessment in pulmonary arterial hypertension utilizing risk variables. Our objectives were: (1) to investigate the impact of inhaled treprostinil on risk stratification using the French noninvasive approach and REVEAL 2.0, and (2) to analyze the prognostic utility of both risk stratification methods in the predominantly New York Heart Association/World Health Organization functional class III/IV cohorts of TRIUMPH and BEAT.

A Systematic Review and Meta-Analysis of Risk Factors for Postpartum Depression Among Latinas.

Objectives: The purpose of this article was to describe the findings from a systematic review, quality review, and meta-analysis of risk factors for postpartum depression among adult Latinas in the United States.

Methods: Databases were searched from inception to May 2020 for studies published in English related to Latina/Hispanic mothers and risk factors of postpartum depression. Of 115 abstracts screened, 10 met the inclusion criteria for the review and meta-analysis.

Stakeholder perceptions of components of a Parkinson disease care management intervention, care coordination for health promotion and activities in Parkinson's disease (CHAPS).

Background: A recent nurse-led proactive care management intervention, Care Coordination for Health Promotion and Activities in Parkinson Disease (CHAPS), improved care quality when compared to usual care in a randomized controlled trial. Therefore, stakeholder (patient participants, nurse care managers, and Parkinson disease (PD) specialists) perceptions of key intervention components merit evaluation to inform decisions about dissemination.

Methods: This multi-site study occurred in five southwest United States Veterans Health Administration medical centers.

Inpatient Telehealth Tools to Enhance Communication and Decrease Personal Protective Equipment Consumption during Disaster Situations: A Case Study during the COVID-19 Pandemic.

Background: As the coronavirus disease 2019 pandemic exerts unprecedented stress on hospitals, health care systems have quickly deployed innovative technology solutions to decrease personal protective equipment (PPE) use and augment patient care capabilities. Telehealth technology use is established in the ambulatory setting, but not yet widely deployed at scale for inpatient care.

Objectives: This article presents and describes our experience with evaluating and implementing inpatient telehealth technologies in a large health care system with the goals of reducing use of PPE while enhancing communication for health care workers and patients.
