Clinical utility of magnetic resonance imaging and ultrasonography for diagnosis of polycystic ovary syndrome in adolescent girls.

Objective: To evaluate ovarian morphology using three-dimensional magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) in adolescent girls with and without polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS). Also compare the utility of MRI versus ultrasonography (US) for diagnosis of PCOS.

Design: Cross-sectional study.

Neonatal neutrophils with prolonged survival exhibit enhanced inflammatory and cytotoxic responsiveness.

Apoptosis is critical to the resolution of inflammation, as it promotes the removal of neutrophils (PMN) by the reticuloendothelial system. In contrast, PMN persistence characterizes the early stages of chronic inflammation. Adult PMN with delayed senescence retain some functionality, although this has not been described for neonatal PMN.
