World religions note the importance of biodiversity and humanity's responsibility in stewarding biodiversity as a member of ecological communities. We reviewed Quranic verses that relate to biodiversity and align with United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

While governmental and local health programs offer educational opportunities encouraging long-term health behavior changes, the most accessible programs have been through faith-based communities.

Conscientious objectors are typically defined only by their unwillingness to serve in the armed forces. Desmond Doss participated in World War II as a combat medic and a conscientious objector by providing emergency medicine on active battlefields while refusing to handle a weapon or harm another human being. Born and raised with humility, Doss developed spiritually as a Seventh Day Adventist.

Nurses can expect to care for patients from different cultures and faith traditions and need to develop cultural competence. This article describes what is important in providing culturally and religiously sensitive care to Muslim and Middle Eastern patients. The Crescent of Care Model by Lovering is offered to aid understanding of five key areas of culturally competent care.

Teaching information literacy skills to sophomore-level biology majors.

Many undergraduate students lack a sound understanding of information literacy. The skills that comprise information literacy are particularly important when combined with scientific writing for biology majors as they are the foundation skills necessary to complete upper-division biology course assignments, better train students for research projects, and prepare students for graduate and professional education. To help undergraduate biology students develop and practice information literacy and scientific writing skills, a series of three one-hour hands-on library sessions, discussions, and homework assignments were developed for Biological Literature, a one-credit, one-hour-per-week, required sophomore-level course.
