Sirtuins, also called silent information regulator 2, are enzymes that rely on nicotinamide adenine dinucleotide (NAD+) to function as histone deacetylases. Further investigation is warranted to explore the advantageous impacts of Sirtuin 1 (SIRT1), a constituent of the sirtuin group, on lipid metabolism, in addition to its well-researched involvement in extending lifespan. The regulation of gene expression has been extensively linked to SIRT1.

Compelling evidence suggests that DRAK2 is involved in regulating the activation of T lymphocytes as well as pancreatic β-cell apoptosis in type I diabetes. In addition, DRAK2 has been shown to be involved in the development of related tumor and non-tumor diseases through a variety of mechanisms, including exacerbation of alcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD) through SRSF6-associated RNA selective splicing mechanism, regulation of chronic lymphocytic leukemia and acute myeloid leukemia, and progression of colorectal cancer.

Materials And Methods: Fifteen patients with T2D who elected to undergo gastric bypass surgery were separated into two groups, using BMI = 30 kg/m(2) as a reference point. Serum samples of venous blood were then collected before operation and 3 months after operation.
Overexpression of endothelial nitric oxide synthetase (eNOS)/inducible nitric oxide synthase (iNOS) and inhibition of inflammatory factors can improve vascular function. We hypothesized that bariatric (gastric bypass) surgery could inhibit inflammatory factors and improve the eNOS/iNOS expression of coronary arterioles in the db/db mice. The animals were randomly allocated to the following groups: sham-operated lean mice, lean mice that underwent surgery, sham-operated db/db mice, and db/db mice that underwent surgery (5, 10, 20, and 30 days post-operation).
