A hybrid material possessing both componential and structural imitation of bone tissue is the preferable composites for bone defect repair. Inspired by the microarchitecture of native bone, this work synthesized a functional mineralized collagen fibril (MCF) material by utilizing the method of co-precipitation, which was designed to proceed in the presence of Astragalus polysaccharide (APS), thus achieving APS load within the biomineralized collagen-Astragalus polysaccharide (MCAPS) fibrils. Transmission electron microscope (TEM), selected area electron diffraction (SAED) and scanning electronic microscopy (SEM) identified the details of the intrafibrillar mineralization of the MCAPS fibrils, almost mimicking the secondary level of bone tissue microstructure.

Here, basing on the theory of wound moist healing, an injectable and self-healing hydrogel comprising of collagen (COL), chitosan (CS) and oxidation modified Konjac glucomannan (OKGM), which acts as a macromolecular cross-linker to construct dynamic Schiff-base bonds was smartly designed. The strategy of introducing the silver nanoparticles (Ag NPs) into the COL-CS-OKGM hydrogel matrix achieved a markedly enhanced antibacterial activity derived from the synergistical effect between the Ag and the mild photothermal efficacy of Ag NPs, which also improved the local capillary blood circulation of the wound area to further facilitate wound healing process.

Methods: One hundred Sprague-Dawley rats were randomly divided into five groups: control, 20% cow milk-based formula (CMF), and 5%-GMF, 10%-GMF, and 20%-GMF groups.
Results: GMF did play an active role in accelerating body and femur length, but not body weight growth.
Saussurea involucrata (SI) has long been used under the herbal name "snow lotus" for treatment of inflammation and pain-related diseases in traditional Chinese medicine. The present study aimed to evaluate the pharmacological effects of SI on collagen II (CII)-induced arthritis in rats. Rats with collagen II (CII)-induced arthritis were orally administered SI (420 mg kg(-1)) for 40 consecutive days.
