Background: Studies on the feasibility of hip arthroscopy in workers' compensation (WC) patients have been largely inconsistent or limited by study design, necessitating the need for a systematic review.
Purpose: We sought to systematically compare clinically significant differences between WC patients and their counterparts in relation to (1) functional outcomes, (2) complications, and (3) failure rates after hip arthroscopy.
Methods: We searched MEDLINE, EMBASE, and PubMed databases for studies published between January 1996 and February 2021.
Background Context: Although anterior cervical discectomy and fusion (ACDF) procedures for cervical spine disease have been increasing amid a growing diabetic patient population, there is a paucity of literature focusing on insulin-dependence as a risk-factor for postoperative ACDF complications.
Purpose: To evaluate the differential impact of insulin dependence on perioperative outcomes including total length of stay, surgical, and medical complications within thirty days following ACDF.
Study Design/setting: A retrospective cohort, large multicenter database study.

Few studies have shown the actual results of instituting this; therefore, we reported the effect of instituting a BMI < 40 threshold in 2014 on our elective, primary total knee arthroplasties (TKAs).
Methods: We queried an institutional database to select all TKAs conducted from January 2010 to May 2020.
Background: The coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) pandemic caused major transitions in total joint arthroplasty (TJA), notably with the increased utilization of same-day discharge (SDD) pathways. This study assessed the effect of accelerated discharge pathways following the resumption of elective cases during the COVID-19 pandemic on SDD rates, adverse events, and characteristics associated with successful SDD following total hip and total knee arthroplasty.
Methods: This retrospective study split patients into cohorts: TJA prior to COVID-19 (pre-COVID, July 2019-December 2019) and TJA following the resumption of elective surgeries (post-COVID, July 2020-December 2020).

Purpose: We provide a systematic review of the current literature regarding best practices in postoperative care following carpometacarpal arthroplasty, and compare these findings to current practices via reported survey data.
Methods: The PubMed, Cochrane, Cumulative Index to Nursing and Allied Health Literature, Science Direct, and Google Scholar databases were searched for relevant studies. English-language articles were included that assessed any aspect of postoperative care, including the immobilization time or rehabilitation strategy.
Introduction: Despite high rates of transfusion reported among hip fracture patients in the perioperative period, the relationship between perioperative transfusions and VTE has not been thoroughly explored. Therefore, we used a national database to evaluate how perioperative transfusions among patients undergoing surgical management of hip fractures impacted 1) deep vein thrombosis (DVT) and 2) pulmonary embolism (PE) risk.
Methods: The Targeted Hip Fracture Database of the American College of Surgeons National Surgical Quality Improvement Program (ACS-NSQIP) was queried for patients undergoing surgical management of hip fractures from 2016 to 2019.

Methods: Patients who underwent hip resurfacing from September 2006 through November 2009 were included.
As no prior study has examined the citations profile of key articles related to periacetabular osteotomy (PAO), our analysis utilized the Web of Science database to (1) identify the most-cited clinical studies relating to PAO in the management of acetabular dysplasia and (2) assess any trends over time with respect to the quality of literature. The top 100 highest-cited studies related to PAO had a mean of 49 citations (range, 6-666 per study). With respect to the level of evidence, most studies had level IV evidence (58%); 1% level I, 16% level II, 28% level III and 2% level V.
