A novel straightforward synthetic route to monocyclic 1,3,2,4-diazadiborinines has been developed by the sequential reaction of the NHC-coordinated iminoborane with bases and haloboranes (or borate). The first examples of monocyclic 1,3,2,4-diazadiborinines featuring different functional groups on the two B atoms have been synthesized and structurally characterized. Further derivatization of 4-bromophenyl-substituted 1,3,2,4-diazadiborinine has also been achieved, giving the biphenyl-substituted 1,3,2,4-diazadiborinine.

Deep eutectic solvent (DES)-based eutectogels show significant promise for flexible sensors due to their high ionic conductivity, non-volatility, biocompatibility, and cost-effectiveness. However, achieving tough and stretchable eutectogels is challenging, as the highly polar DES tends to screen noncovalent bonds, such as hydrogen and ionic bonds, between polymer chains, limiting their mechanical strength. In this work, this issue is addressed by leveraging the limited solubility of zwitterionic polymers in a specific DES to induce phase separation, promoting dipole-dipole interactions between polymer chains.

Background: Mitophagy is a crucial process involved in maintaining cellular homeostasis by selectively eliminating damaged or surplus mitochondria. As the kidney is an organ with a high dynamic metabolic rate and abundant mitochondria, it is particularly crucial to control mitochondrial quality through mitophagy. Dysregulation of mitophagy has been associated with various renal diseases, including acute and chronic kidney diseases, and therefore a better understanding of the links between mitophagy and these diseases may present new opportunities for therapeutic interventions.
