Listeriosis is a relatively rare but severe foodborne disease, which has significant public health concern of persons with underlying conditions and pregnant women. This study aimed to estimate the morbidity, mortality, and fatality rates of listeriosis over a 10-year period and clarify the epidemiological features of the pathogen in Beijing, China, based on voluntary reporting of sentinel surveillance. A total of 228 listeriosis cases were reported with annual morbidity rate of 1.

The development of dynamic covalent materials with repairability, reprocessability, and recyclability is crucial for sustainable development. In this work, we report a new strategy to adjust the thermomechanical properties of boronic ester cross-linked poly(β-hydroxyl amine)s through side-group engineering. By tuning the side groups of the poly(β-hydroxyl amine)s, we have developed self-healable, reprocessable, and shape-programmable materials.

However, the over-oxidation of RuO into soluble HRuO species results in a poor durability, which hinders the practical application of RuO in proton exchange membrane water electrolysis. Here, we report a confinement strategy by enriching a high local concentration of in-situ formed HRuO species, which can effectively suppress the RuO degradation by shifting the redox equilibrium away from the RuO over-oxidation, greatly boosting its durability during acidic oxygen evolution.

The cochlear hydrops analysis masking procedure (CHAMP), which is an auditory brainstem response test masked at various frequencies with high-pass noise masking, uses the principle of the traveling wave velocity theory to determine the presence of endolymphatic hydrops.
Purpose: This study aimed to review the previous results of the CHAMP, expound the principles and key indicators, and discuss its clinical significance in diagnosing Ménière's disease.
Aptamers are oligonucleotide-based affinity reagents that are increasingly being used in various applications. Systematic evolution of ligands by exponential enrichment (SELEX) has been widely used to isolate aptamers for small-molecule targets, but it remains challenging to generate aptamers with high affinity and specificity for targets with few functional groups. To address this challenge, we have systematically evaluated strategies for optimizing the isolation of aptamers for (+)-methamphetamine, a target for which previously reported aptamers have weak or no binding affinity.

However, the exact pathogenic mechanism remains unclear. Previous studies have shown that the HIV-1 gp120 V3 loop can trigger inflammation in CHME-5 microglia.

Polyphenylene sulfide(PPS) can be used to develop new-generation membrane materials, but PPS has problems such as hydrophobicity and UV resistance. This article proposes a PPS membrane for efficient separation/filtration under extreme conditions, which uses melt-blown PPS non-woven fabric and undergoes oxidation and nitrification modification.

Exposure to specific alkali and alkaline earth elements(AEs/AEEs) has been reported that are linked to an increased risk of spontaneous abortion. However, the direct evidence of exposure in the uterus are absent. Therefore, we collected chorionic villi after spontaneous abortion or induced abortion in Peking University Third Hospital.

Rapid and accurate detection of infectious disease pathogens is of crucial practical significance for early screening, timely intervention, and outbreak prevention. However, conventional diagnostic methods are increasingly unable to meet clinical demands.

Probiotics are increasingly recognised as an effective treatment for gastrointestinal disorders, including intestinal motility disorders. In this study, we used senna extract to induce an animal model of intestinal dysfunction characterised by BDNF downregulation.

Due to the frequent movement and stretching of skin as well as complex surface of wound, traditional wound dressings have difficulty to adapt to motion and irregular wounds. Furthermore, excessive reactive oxygen species (ROS) and bacterial infection can induce delayed wound healing.

This study aims to evaluate the influence of cachexia on the effectiveness of immunotherapy, develop and assess a deep learning (DL)-based prediction model for cachexia, as well as its prognostic value.
Methods: The analysis encompassed ES-SCLC patients who received the combination of first-line immunotherapy and chemotherapy from Shandong Cancer Hospital and Institute, Qilu Hospital, and Jining First People's Hospital.

Motor imagery electroencephalography (MI-EEG) is usually used as a driving signal in neuro-rehabilitation systems, and its feature space varies with the recovery progress. It is required to endow the recognition model with continuous learning and self-updating capability. Broad learning system (BLS) can be remodeled in an efficient incremental learning way.

To explore the effect of mild hearing loss on cognitive function by evaluating the Montreal Cognitive Assessment(MoCA) in idiopathic tinnitus patients with mild hearing loss. 102 patients with idiopathic tinnitus(68 patients with normal hearing and 34 patients with mild hearing loss) whose first complaint is tinnitus and 34 healthy volunteers(control group) were included. All subjects were asked to fill the MoCA, Tinnitus Handicap Inventory(THI), Self-rating Anxiety Scale(SAS), Self-rating Depression Scale(SDS), and Pittsburgh Sleep Index(PQSI) after collecting medical history, pure tone audiometry, tinnitus matching and masking test.

However, due to the high heterogeneity of NK cell subsets, their categorization has been controversial. Here, we review previous studies on uterine NK cell subsets, including the classic categorization based on surface markers, functional molecules, and developmental stages, as well as single-cell RNA sequencing-based clustering approaches.

Chronic wound infection has become a global health problem, with bacterial biofilms, which are difficult to penetrate using traditional antibiotics, considered the primary cause of recurrent infection and delayed healing in chronic wounds. In recent years, the outstanding performance of nanomaterials in controlling biofilm infections has been widely acknowledged, and these materials are regarded as highly promising for chronic wound infection management. The formation and structure of chronic wound biofilms undergo complex dynamic changes.
