This review evaluates randomized controlled trials (RCTs) intervening on adult state anxiety (fear and emotional distress during dental treatment), chronic dental (trait) anxiety or dental phobia (disproportionately high trait anxiety; meeting diagnostic criteria for specific phobia). Seven online databases were systematically searched. 173 RCTs met inclusion criteria, of which 67 qualified for 14 pooled analyses.

The North Atlantic is one of the world's airspaces accommodating a very high aircraft density while at the same time no radio coverage or radar surveillance is available. Beside satellite communication, one approach to enable data communication between aircraft and ground in the North Atlantic region is to establish ad-hoc  networks build up by direct data links between the aircraft that are acting as communication nodes. In this paper we, therefore, present a modeling approach to model air traffic and ad-hoc networks in the North Atlantic region using up-to-date flight plans and trajectory modeling techniques and to assess the connectivity provided by such networks.

Despite developments in wearable devices for detecting various bio-signals, continuous measurement of breathing rate (BR) remains a challenge. This work presents an early proof of concept that employs a wearable patch to estimate BR. We propose combining techniques for calculating BR from electrocardiogram (ECG) and accelerometer (ACC) signals, while applying decision rules based on signal-to-noise (SNR) to fuse the estimates for improved accuracy.

The most common malignant brain tumour in children, medulloblastoma (MB), is subdivided into four clinically relevant molecular subgroups, although targeted therapy options informed by understanding of different cellular features are lacking. Here, by comparing the most aggressive subgroup (Group 3) with the intermediate (SHH) subgroup, we identify crucial differences in tumour heterogeneity, including unique metabolism-driven subpopulations in Group 3 and matrix-producing subpopulations in SHH. To analyse tumour heterogeneity, we profiled individual tumour nodules at the cellular level in 3D MB hydrogel models, which recapitulate subgroup specific phenotypes, by single cell RNA sequencing (scRNAseq) and 3D OrbiTrap Secondary Ion Mass Spectrometry (3D OrbiSIMS) imaging.

Studying medulloblastoma, the most common malignant paediatric brain tumour, requires simple yet realistic in vitro models. In this study, we optimised a robust, reliable, three-dimensional (3D) culture method for medulloblastoma able to recapitulate the spatial conformation, cell-cell and cell-matrix interactions that exist in vivo and in patient tumours. We show that, when grown under the same stem cell enriching conditions, SHH subgroup medulloblastoma cell lines established tight, highly reproducible 3D spheroids that could be maintained for weeks in culture and formed pathophysiological oxygen gradients.

We report on a preterm girl (birth weight 1,200 g) with a right esophageal lung in esophageal atresia type VIag (according to the extended classification of Kluth). Additionally, the child suffered from an atrioseptal defect, a dextrocardia with a left descending aorta, a duodenal atresia, a high type of anal atresia (VACTERL association), agenesis of the left kidney, and agenesis of the vagina, uterus, and ovarian tubes (Mayer-Rokitansky-Kuster-Hauser syndrome or incomplete MURCS association). The child was treated with an emergency gastrostomy because of increasing abdominal dilatation.
