Thin films of chalcopyrite, CuFeS, are promising candidates for use as absorber layers in photovoltaic cells due to their low band gap and high absorbance. These films are typically deposited in two or three steps, always involving an annealing process. In this work, the CuFeS film was deposited on a glass substrate in a single deposition step using the cathodic cylindrical plasma deposition (CCyPD) technique.

In this study, we sequenced and analyzed 382 OROV genomes from human samples collected in Amazonas, Acre, Rondônia and Roraima states, between August 2022 and February 2024, to uncover the origin and genetic evolution of OROV in the current outbreak. Genomic analyses revealed that the upsurge of OROV cases in the Brazilian Amazon coincides with spread of a novel reassortant lineage containing the M segment of viruses detected in the eastern Amazon region (2009-2018) and the L and S segments of viruses detected in Peru, Colombia and Ecuador (2008-2021).

Methods: This prospective study included 11 eyes of 11 patients who underwent amniotic membrane transplantation for the treatment of refractory neurotrophic corneal ulcers at Hospital de ClÃnicas da Universidade Federal do Paraná, in the city of Curitiba, from May 2015 to July 2021. Patients underwent different surgical techniques in which the amniotic membrane was applied with the epithelium facing upward to promote corneal re-epithelialization.
Worldwide, some of the largest hydrocarbon reservoirs are located in tropical neritic carbonate deposits. Biostratigraphic and paleoenvironmental analyzes of these sedimentary records are often based on the study of foraminiferal assemblage. Foraminifera-based biozones are widely employed in the oil industry to support drilling processes that, alongside petrophysical prospecting, define interval favorable for exploiting hydrocarbon resources.

While hamartomas identified through indirect ophthalmoscopy are often large enough to affect vessels and optic disc anatomy, RAH not detected in previous fundoscopies may become apparent in optical coherence tomography (OCT). The purpose of this report was to describe and characterize RAH with OCT with swept-source technology (OCT-SS), aiming to establish a more comprehensive classification for these hamartomas due to their diverse presentations.

Data was collected prospectively from patients with prostate cancer receiving radiotherapy in two Brazilian centers to provide data to apply design thinking and process reengineering techniques. The current status of the radiotherapy pathway was determined and the length of time taken for in-hospital activities was measured using data exported from ARIA.

Graft-versus-host disease (GVHD) is a serious inflammatory illness that often occurs as a secondary complication of bone marrow transplantation. Current therapies have limited effectiveness and fail to achieve a balance between inflammation and the graft-versus-tumor effect. In this study, we investigate the effects of the endocannabinoid anandamide on the complex pathology of GVHD.

Purpose: To assess the relationship between SF levels and NAFLD, exploring the role of SF as a non-invasive marker of NAFLD.
The objective of this study was to assess the effect of some maternal characteristics on the use of ferrous sulfate among postpartum women from five perinatal studies in the Municipality of Rio Grande, Rio Grande do Sul State, Brazil. From January 1 to December 31 in the years 2007, 2010, 2013, 2016, and 2019, previously trained interviewers applied a standardized interview within 48 hours after childbirth to all postpartum women, while still in hospital, residing in the municipality and who had given birth in the only two local hospitals. The questionnaire included demographic, socioeconomic, and healthcare data during pregnancy and childbirth.

Genome reassortment events between two human strains or human and animal strains represent one of the mechanisms which appear to generate the broad genetic variability of circulating. According to a nucleotide, sequence-based classification system, RVA strains are currently classified into three genotype constellations including Wa-like (genogroup I), DS-1-like (genogroup II), and AU-like (genogroup III).

Sea people are culturally differentiated by their way of life intertwined with sea fishing and their social and symbolic production. In northeastern Brazil, these people have been changing their living conditions. The Family Health Strategy (ESF) should strengthen links with different cultures to meet its basic principles.

Objectives: Our primary aim was to assess the impact of COVID-19 on health-related quality of life (HRQoL) 3 months after hospital discharge.

In this context, paper spray-MSÂ (PS-MS) is an innovative approach that provides faster and cheaper analysis of biofluids by the addition of the sample directly to a paper. In forensic toxicology, the analytical workflow for the detection and quantification of drugs of abuse is onerous, including sample treatment, extraction and clean up, especially regarding complex biological matrices.

In this study we examined the association between rotavirus antigenemia and clinical features, and sought to determine the genotypes of rotaviruses detected in paired stool and serum samples.
Methods: Paired stool and serum samples were obtained from children hospitalised for acute gastroenteritis in Belém, Brazil, between June 2012 and June 2015.
Species A rotavirus still remains a major cause of acute gastroenteritis in infants and young children. Globally, six genotypes (G1P[8], G2P[4], G3P[8], G4P[8], G9P[8] and G12P[8]) account for >90% of circulating strains; however, genotype G12 in combination with P[6] or P[9] has been detected at increasing rates. We sought to broaden our knowledge about the rotavirus strains circulating during the early post-vaccine-introduction period.

Methods: This study included all recent mothers living in this municipality, between 1/1 and 12/31 of those years, who had a child weighing more than 500 grams or 20 weeks of gestational age in one of the only two local maternity hospitals. Trained interviewers applied, still in the hospital and up to 48 hours after delivery, a unique and standardized questionnaire, seeking to investigate maternal demographic and reproductive characteristics, the socioeconomic conditions of the family and the assistance received during pregnancy and childbirth.
Worldwide rotaviruses A (RVA) are responsible for approximately 215,000 deaths annually among children aged <5 years. RVA G1P[8] remains associated with >50% of gastroenteritis cases in this age group. The aim of this study was to assess the genetic variability of G1P[8] strains detected in children with severe diarrhea in Belém, Pará, Brazil, during the post-rotavirus vaccine introduction era.

It can be divided into Very Early Rheumatoid Arthritis (VERA) diagnosed up to 3Â months of symptoms and late onset (Late Early Rheumatoid Arthritis - LERA), diagnosed between 3 and 12Â months. Currently, it is recommended to evaluate the patient with joint symptoms as early as possible, and the first 12 weeks of manifestations represent the ideal phase for the diagnosis, favoring a better evolution of the treatment.

Fever and myalgia had been associated with these cases. Since in non-tropical countries most infections or parainfectious diseases associated with the nervous system are attributed to herpesviruses, enteroviruses, and Campylobacter jejuni, the present findings indicate that in tropical countries, arboviruses may now play a more important role and reinforce the need for their surveillance and systematic investigation in the tropics.

Enteric adenovirus (AdV), sapovirus (SaV), and human astrovirus (HAstV) are important pathogens involved in the gastroenteritis etiology. In this study, a total of 219 fecal samples and sera were collected from children hospitalized for acute gastroenteritis (AGE) in two large pediatric hospitals in Belém, from March 2012 to April 2015. The samples were analyzed by polymerase chain reaction (PCR) for AdV and HAstV (astrovirus) detection, and Nested-PCR and qPCR for SaV detection.
