Hydrogen peroxide (HO) production via oxygen (O) reduction reaction (ORR) in pure water (HO) through graphitic carbon nitrides (g-CN)-based piezo-photocatalysts is an exciting approach in many current studies. However, the low Lewis-acid properties of g-CN limited the catalytic performance because of the low O adsorption efficacy. To overcome this challenge, the interaction of g-CN precursors with various solvents are utilized to synthesize g-CN, possessing multiple nitrogen-vacant species via thermal shocking polymerization.

The COVID-19 pandemic was caused by the SARS-CoV-2 virus, marking one of the most catastrophic global health crises of the 21st century. Throughout this period, widespread use and improper disposal of personal protective equipment (PPE) emerged as a pressing environmental issue, significantly impacting various life forms. During the COVID-19 pandemic, there was a high rate of PEP disposal.

Analysis of temporal patterns of high-dimensional time-series water quality data is essential for pollution management worldwide. This study has applied dynamic factor analysis (DFA) and cluster analysis (CA) to analyze time-series water quality data monitored at the five stations installed along the La Buong river in Southern Vietnam. Application of the DFA identified two types of temporal patterns, one of the run-off driven parameters (total suspended solid (TSS), turbidity, and iron) and the other of diffuse source pollution.

Article Synopsis
  • The study identified 18 active substances in garlic essential oil, primarily focusing on 17 organosulfur compounds using GC-MS analysis.
  • It reports for the first time the ability of these compounds to inhibit the ACE2 protein, which is important for coronavirus entry into human cells, along with interactions with SARS-CoV-2's main protease protein (PDB6LU7).
  • The findings suggest that garlic essential oil, especially its key ingredients like allyl disulfide and allyl trisulfide, could be a natural antiviral agent effective against the coronavirus.

A new Fe-based metal-organic framework (MOF), termed Fe-TBAPy Fe(OH)(TBAPy)·4.4HO, was solvothermally synthesized. Structural analysis revealed that Fe-TBAPy is built from [Fe(OH)(CO)] rod-shaped SBUs (SBUs = secondary building units) and 1,3,6,8-tetrakis(-benzoate)pyrene (TBAPy) linker to form the topological structure highlighted by 7 Å channels and 3.

Breast cancer is the cancer that most commonly affects women worldwide. This type of cancer is genetically complex, but is strongly linked to steroid hormone signaling systems. Because microRNAs act as translational regulators of multiple genes, including the steroid nuclear receptors, single nucleotide polymorphisms (SNPs) in microRNA genes can have potentially wide-ranging influences on breast cancer development.
