Apples ( are important fruits in China; however, salt stress is severe in northern regions, and the key to plant resistance to salt stress lies in the rootstock. Therefore, it is necessary to explore rootstocks with strong salt resistance for the development of the apple industry. This study used tissue culture seedlings of six apple rootstocks, namely, '71-3-150', '54-118', 'M9T337', 'GM256', 'ML176', and 'ML2', as experimental materials.

In recent years, the regulatory relationship between the vesicular transport system and plant disease resistance has received widespread attention; however, the underlying mechanism remains unclear. MdSYP121 is a key protein in the vesicular transport system.

Zinc is a light gray transition metal, and excessive zinc will inactivate enzymes in the soil, weaken the biological function of microorganisms, and enter the food chain through enrichment, thus affecting human health. Lipoxygenase (LOX) can catalyze the production of fatty acid derivatives from phenolic triglycerides in plants and is an important pathway of fatty acid oxidation in plants, which usually begins under unfavorable conditions, especially under biotic and abiotic stresses.

Salt stress dramatically impedes plant growth and development as well as crop yield. The apple production regions are reduced every year, because of the secondary salt damage by improper fertilization and irrigation. To expand the cultivation area of apple (Malus domestica) and select salt-resistant varieties, the mechanism of salt tolerance in apple is necessary to be clarified.

Early studies of plant MAPKs focused on their functions in model plants. Based on the results of whole-genome sequencing, many MAPKs have been identified in horticultural plants, such as tomato and apple.

Apple (Malus × domestica) is the most widely planted fruit tree species worldwide. However, the growth and development of apple have been increasingly affected by abiotic stress, such as high salinity.

In this study, we analyzed the MdMYB1 gene and its relationship to apple skin color and fruit-bearing traits to better understand this gene and its application to apple breeding. A previously reported MdMYB1 dCAPS marker failed to identify alleles of the MdMYB1 gene in 'Fuji', a very important apple cultivar.

Cholinesterase inhibitors are widely used for the symptomatic treatment of Alzheimer's disease to enhance central cholinergic transmission. In this study, a bioactivity-oriented screening platform based on a modified Ellman's method and HPLC-QTOF MS technique was developed to rapidly screen active agents of Anemarrhena asphodeloides Bge.

Objective: To observe nailfold capillary changes in a cohort of connective tissue disease (CTD) with Raynaud's phenomenon (RP) and to explore the diagnostic value of nailfold video-capillaroscopy (NVC) in systemic sclerosis (SSc).
Methods: Sixty CTD patients with RP divided into SSc group (n = 36) and non-SSc group (n = 24) were referred to an experienced operator for NVC.
Results: The patients had decreased capillary loops in SSc group with the capillary diameter more enlarged in SSc group than non-SSc group.
The conserved domains of reverse transcriptase (RT) genes of Ty1-copia and Ty3-gypsy groups of long terminal repeat (LTR) retrotransposons were isolated from the Malus domestica genome using degenerate oligonucleotide primers. Sequence analysis showed that 45% of Ty1-copia and 63% of Ty3-gypsy RT sequences contained premature stop codons and/or indels disrupting the reading frame. High heterogeneity among RT sequences of both Ty1-copia and Ty3-gypsy group retrotransposons was observed, but Ty3-gypsy group retrotransposons in the apple genome are less heterogeneous than Ty1-copia elements.
