The taste of tea is one of the key indicators in the evaluation of its quality and is a key factor in its grading and market pricing. To objectively and digitally evaluate the taste quality of tea leaves, miniature near-infrared (NIR) spectroscopy and electronic tongue (ET) sensors are considered effective sensor signals for the characterization of the taste quality of tea leaves. In plant cells, mitochondria are ideally positioned to sense and balance changes in energy metabolism in response to changing environmental conditions. Retrograde signaling from mitochondria to the nucleus is crucial for adjusting the required transcriptional responses. Although antibiotics have played a certain positive role in the prevention and treatment of poultry diseases, as well as the promotion of poultry growth, some farmers use antibiotics in an incorrect way in the breeding process, resulting in antibiotic residues in poultry tissues, organs and edible products. Residual antibiotics enter the human body through the food chain and accumulate, which not only causes poisoning and allergic reactions, but also drug resistance of pathogenic microorganisms, thus endangering the health of consumers. In this investigation, the residues of 24 antibiotics, including fluoroquinolones, sulfonamides, macrolides, tetracyclines, antivirals, lincomycin and florfenicol, were analyzed in 1211 poultry egg samples in Shandong, China, from 2018 to 2020.

Understanding the systems-level actions of transcriptional responses to hormones provides insight into how the genome is reprogrammed in response to environmental stimuli. Here, we investigated the signalling pathway of the hormone jasmonic acid (JA), which controls a plethora of critically important processes in plants and is orchestrated by the transcription factor MYC2 and its closest relatives in Arabidopsis thaliana. We generated an integrated framework of the response to JA, which spans from the activity of master and secondary regulatory transcription factors, through gene expression outputs and alternative splicing, to protein abundance changes, protein phosphorylation and chromatin remodelling.

Plants generate reactive oxygen species (ROS) in the apoplast in response to pathogen attack, especially following resistance () gene-mediated pathogen recognition; however, the mechanisms activating ROS generation remain unknown. Here, we demonstrate that RKN () infection rapidly induces ROS accumulation in the roots of tomato () plants that contain the gene but rarely induces ROS accumulation in the susceptible or -silenced resistant genotypes. RNK also induces the hypersensitive response, a form of programmed cell death, in plants.

2-Cys peroxiredoxins (2-CPs) function in the removal of hydrogen peroxide and lipid peroxides but their precise roles in the induction of autophagy have not been characterized. Here we show that heat stress, which is known to induce oxidative stress, leads to the simultaneous accumulation of transcripts encoding 2-CPs and autophagy proteins, as well as autophagosomes, in tomato (Solanum lycopersicum) plants. Virus-induced gene silencing of the tomato peroxiredoxin genes 2-CP1, 2-CP2, and 2-CP1/2 resulted in an increased sensitivity of tomato plants to heat stress.
