The occurrence of multiple primary lung cancer (MPLC) has witnessed a significant surge in recent years within the Chinese population. MPLC is distinguished by its potential genetic susceptibility and notable genetic heterogeneity. Investigating the etiology of MPLC holds substantial clinical importance.

However, the characteristics and prognosis of MPLC categorized according to the new system have not been evaluated.
Method: We retrospectively analyzed data from surgically treated MPLC patients in a single center from 2011 to 2013 and explored the characteristics and outcomes of different MPLC disease patterns.
Background: The reciprocal nexus between sleep and pain is well-documented, with the deleterious impact of operative trauma potentially playing a pivotal role in the dysregulation of this interplay, which could significantly contribute to the manifestation of postoperative delirium (POD). Studies have investigated the effect of adding dexmedetomidine (DEX) to patient-controlled intravenous analgesia (PCIA) pumps on postoperative pain-sleep interaction cycle and POD, but conclusions remained uncertain. The objective of this investigation is to perform a meta-analysis that thoroughly assesses the impact of integrating DEX into PCIA, focusing on analgesic effectiveness, sleep quality, and the incidence of delirium in postoperative patients.

To effectively grade the diagnosis of intracranial tumors, this paper proposes a dual path parallel hierarchical model that can automatically grade the diagnosis of intracranial tumors with high accuracy. In this model, prior features of solid tumor mass and intratumoral necrosis are extracted.

Methods: We searched the PubMed and EMBASE databases for relevant studies and performed a systematic review and meta-analysis of the literature. Subgroup analyses were conducted to assess the sources of heterogeneity.
Glioblastoma (GBM) is a highly malignant cancer, the prognosis of which is pretty poor. Long non-coding RNAs (lncRNAs) are a class of non-coding RNAs, which play important roles in carcinogenesis process of many cancers including GBM. In this study, we want to clarify the expression, biological function, and molecular mechanism of lncRNA KTN1 antisense RNA 1 (KTN1-AS1) in GBM tumor progression.

The objectives of this study were to develop hairy root cultures and assess the effect of multiple elicitors combinations including (I) methyl-β-cyclodextrin (CD), MgCl, methyl jasmonate (MeJA), and HO, (II) CD, MgCl, and MeJA and (III) CD, MgCl and HO, on the production of these bioactive compounds. The highest yields of stilbenes and benzofurans were obtained upon co-treatment with 18 g/L CD, 3 mM HO and 1 mM MgCl.

Advances in cell culture models from two-dimensional to three-dimensional platforms, along with microfluidics, have resulted in the creation of tumor-on-a-chip technology, which enables high-throughput molecular screening and helps to simulate the dynamic tumor microenvironment. Furthermore, advancements in bioprinting have allowed the structural and physiological aspects of the tumor to be recreated accurately and help to mimic cell-cell interactions and cell-extracellular matrix.
View Article and Find Full Text PDFFeature Selection (FS) is considered as an important preprocessing step in data mining and is used to remove redundant or unrelated features from high-dimensional data. Most optimization algorithms for FS problems are not balanced in search. A hybrid algorithm called nonlinear binary grasshopper whale optimization algorithm (NL-BGWOA) is proposed to solve the problem in this paper.

Corona virus disease 2019 (COVID-19) testing relies on traditional screening methods, which require a lot of manpower and material resources. Recently, to effectively reduce the damage caused by radiation and enhance effectiveness, deep learning of classifying COVID-19 negative and positive using the mixed dataset by CT and X-rays images have achieved remarkable research results. However, the details presented on CT and X-ray images have pathological diversity and similarity features, thus increasing the difficulty for physicians to judge specific cases.

Objective: To investigate clinical efficacy analysis of fast rehabilitation nursing on pain mitigation after lumbar discectomy and bone graft fusion and internal fixation.
Methods: A total of 60 patients with lumbar disc herniation who underwent lumbar discectomy and bone graft fusion and internal fixation in our hospital from January 2021 to December 2021 were randomized either into routine group ( = 30) or rehabilitation group ( = 30) via the random number table method. The patients in the routine group were intervened with the routine postoperative nursing mode, and the patients in the rehabilitation group were intervened with the fast rehabilitation nursing mode on the basis of the nursing of the patients in the routine group.
Background: Obesity alters metabolic microenvironment and is thus associated with several tumours. The aim of the present study was to investigate the role, molecular mechanism of action, and potential clinical value of lipid metabolism-related long non-coding RNA (lncRNA) SLC25A21-AS1 in oesophageal squamous cell carcinoma (ESCC).
Methods: A high-fat diets (HFDs)-induced obesity nude mouse model was established, and targeted metabolomics analysis was used to identify critical medium-long chain fatty acids influencing the growth of ESCC cells.
Background: Considering the considerable prevalence of allergic disease in the general population, an urgent need exists for inactivated SARS-CoV-2 vaccines that can be safely administered to those subjects.
Methods: This retrospective cohort study including 1926 participants who received inactivated SARS-CoV-2 vaccines, compared their local and systemic reactions in 7 days after each dose of inactivated SARS-CoV-2 vaccine, and anti-SARS-CoV-2 IgG after vaccination in all participants.
Results: Pain at the injection site within seven days after the first injection was the most commonly reported local reaction, occurring in 31.

The segmentation of ultrasound (US) images is steadily growing in popularity, owing to the necessity of computer-aided diagnosis (CAD) systems and the advantages that this technique shows, such as safety and efficiency. The objective of this work is to separate the lesion from its background in US images. However, most US images contain poor quality, which is affected by the noise, ambiguous boundary, and heterogeneity.

Computer Tomography (CT) detection can effectively overcome the problems of traditional detection of Corona Virus Disease 2019 (COVID-19), such as lagging detection results and wrong diagnosis results, which lead to the increase of disease infection rate and prevalence rate. The novel coronavirus pneumonia is a significant difference between the positive and negative patients with asymptomatic infections. To effectively improve the accuracy of doctors' manual judgment of positive and negative COVID-19, this paper proposes a deep classification network model of the novel coronavirus pneumonia based on convolution and deconvolution local enhancement.

Cancer-associated fibroblasts (CAFs) plays an important role in the tumor microenvironment. The heterogeneity of CAFs affects the effect of CAFs on promoting or inhibiting tumors, which can be regulated by other cells in the tumor microenvironment through paracrine methods. The urokinase-type plasminogen activator (PLAU) system mediates cell proliferation, migration, adhesion, and other functions through the proteolytic system, intracellular signal transduction, and chemokine activation.
