Objectives: This study aimed to compare progression-free survival, overall survival, clinical benefits, and adverse effects in postmenopausal women with hormone receptor-positive and HER2-negative breast cancer who received buparlisib plus fulvestrant against those of women who received dalpiciclib plus fulvestrant, considering ribociclib plus letrozole treatment as the reference standard.
Methods: Women received buparlisib plus fulvestrant (BF cohort, n = 108), dalpiciclib plus fulvestrant (DF cohort, n = 132), or ribociclib plus letrozole (RL cohort, n = 150) until unacceptable toxicity was observed.
Results: A total of 117 (89 %), 80 (74 %), and 84 (56 %) women in the BF, DF, and RL cohorts, respectively, had clinical benefits.

The Belt and Road Initiative (BRI) stands as the most ambitious infrastructure project in history, marked by its scale of investment, extensive geographical reach across continents and countries, and a diverse array of projects from roads to digital networks. While the BRI's environmental sustainability has raised concerns, the impacts of construction materials used in these projects have been overlooked, especially in developing countries. Here, we map and account for the materials embodied in the BRI by integrating, for the first time, official governmental project reports, geographical information, and material flow analysis.

However, how abnormal mechanical load affects chondrocyte epigenetics is unclear. Chondrocytes reportedly respond to mechanics through the extracellular matrix (ECM), which has a role in regulating epigenetics in various diseases, and mitochondria are potential mediators of communication between mechanics and epigenetics.

Periodontitis, an inflammatory bone resorption disease associated with dental plaque, poses significant challenges for effective treatment. In this study, we developed Mino@ZIF-8 nanoparticles inspired by the periodontal microenvironment and the unique properties of zeolitic imidazolate framework 8, aiming to address the complex pathogenesis of periodontitis. Transcriptome analysis revealed the active engagement of Mino@ZIF-8 nanoparticles in innate and adaptive inflammatory host defense and cellular metabolic remodeling.

However, the unsatisfying repair outcome usually results from a disturbed intricate milieu and the lack of in situ mineralization resources. In this work, we have developed a composite hydrogel that mimics the natural bone healing processes and serves as a seedbed for bone regeneration.

However, the induction, risk factors, and important clinical symptoms of breakthrough infection and reinfection of Mpox virus (MPXV), as well as the factors affecting the effectiveness of Mpox vaccine are not characterized. Herein, a literature review was preformed to summarize the risk factors and important clinical symptoms of patients with Mpox breakthrough infection or reinfection, as well as the factors affecting the effectiveness of smallpox vaccine against Mpox.

From July to September 2023, China reported over 1, 400 confirmed cases of mpox transmitted mainly through sexual contact between males. Meanwhile, the percentage of men who have sex with men at universities in southwestern China is increasing every year, which is likely to lead to a potential spread of mpox on campuses. Vaccination is an effective preventive measure against infectious diseases, this study examined the willingness of university students in Southwest China to receive the mpox vaccine and analyzed the factors influencing their decision.

This study was developed to use two-dimensional speckle tracking imaging (2D-STI) to explore associations between LAA strain/strain rate and stroke incidence and to evaluate the value of utilizing LAA strain and strain rate values to support the stratification of nonvalvular AF (NVAF) patients based on stroke risk. A total of 486 AF patients who had undergone transesophageal echocardiography to exclude potential intracardiac thrombosis between March 2021 and November 2022 were consecutively enrolled.

Local therapeutic drugs, such as glucocorticoids, cause adverse effects on the metabolism of tendon tissues and injection-related complications. Therefore, new administration modalities for tendinopathy need to be developed.

However, the importance of AsA concentration and the regulation of AsA metabolism in plant reproduction remain unclear. In Arabidopsis (Arabidopsis thaliana) anthers, the tapetum monolayer undergoes cell differentiation to support pollen development.

In Arabidopsis, the transcription factor ABORTED MICROSPORE (AMS) is a master regulator of exine formation, and another transcription factor, TRANSPOSABLE ELEMENT SILENCING VIA AT-HOOK (TEK), specifies formation of the nexine layer. However, knowledge regarding the temporal regulatory roles of TEK in pollen wall development is limited.

In , swarming is dependent upon a functional flagella and aided by the production of biosurfactants. AmrZ, a conserved transcription factor across pseudomonads, has been shown to be a global regulator of multiple genes important for virulence and ecological fitness.

Background: Breast cancer is the leading cause of oncological mortality among women. Efficient detection of cancer cells in an early stage and potent therapeutic agents targeting metastatic tumors are highly needed to improve survival rates. Emerging evidence indicates that lncRNAs (long noncoding RNAs) are critical regulators of fundamental cellular processes in a variety of tumors including breast cancer.

Initially, solanidine was synthesized through a series of transformations including a cascade ring-switching process of furostan-26-acid, an epimerization of C25 controlled by the conformation of six-membered lactone ring, an intramolecular Schmidt reaction, and an imine reduction/intramolecular aminolysis process. To address the epimerization issue during Schmidt reaction, an improved synthesis was developed, which also led to a synthesis of 22-epi-solanidine.
