Aims: Despite islet transplantation has proved a great potential to become the standard therapy for type 1 diabetes mellitus (T1DM), this approach remains limited by ischemia, hypoxia, and poor revascularization in early post-transplant period as well as inflammation and life-long host immune rejection. Here, we investigate the potential and mechanism of human amniotic mesenchymal stem cells (hAMSCs)-islet organoid to improve the efficiency of islet engraftment in immunocompetent T1DM mice.

Main Methods: We generated the hAMSC-islet organoid structure through culturing the mixture of hAMSCs and islets on 3-dimensional-agarose microwells.

Objective: The Fas-activated serine/threonine kinase (FASTK) family of proteins has been recently found to be able to regulate mitochondrial gene expression post-transcriptionally. Nonetheless, there is a paucity of study about the role of the FASTK family in kidney renal clear cell carcinoma (KIRC). This study was conducted to explore the correlation of FASTK family genes with expression, prognosis, and immune infiltration in KIRC.

Currently, there are no useful biomarkers or prognostic risk markers for the diagnosis of kidney renal clear cell carcinoma (KIRC), although recent research has shown that both, the onset and progression of KIRC, are substantially influenced by immune-associated genes (IAGs). This work aims to create and verify the prognostic value of an immune risk score signature (IRSS) based on IAGs for KIRC using bioinformatics and public databases. Differentially expressed genes (DEGs) related to the immune systems (IAGs) in KIRC tissues were identified from The Cancer Genome Atlas (TCGA) databases.

Purpose: Prostate cancer is a common cancer. To improve the accuracy of early diagnosis, we propose a prostate Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) segmentation model based on Pyramid Scene Parsing Network (PSP Net).

Method: A total of 270 prostate MRI images were collected, and the data set was divided.

The aim of the present study is to explore the effects of exogenous insulin-like growth factor-1 (IGF1) on hyperglycemia-induced apoptosis of Schwann cells via neuritin-mediated pathway. Neuritin was identified with immunohistochemistry. Exogenous IGF1 was used to prevent possible changes in neuritin expression and apoptosis of Schwann cells isolated from rat sciatic nerves and cultured in high-glucose media.

Aims/introduction: Data on hyperhomocysteinemia in relation to fractures in diabetes are limited. We aimed to explore the relationship between plasma total homocysteine concentrations and fractures in men and premenopausal women with type 2 diabetes.

Materials And Methods: Diabetic and control participants (n = 292) were enrolled in a cross-sectional hospital-based study.

Aim: To explore the relationship between plasma total homocysteine concentration and diabetic macular edema in patients with type 2 diabetes.

Methods: Patients with type 2 diabetes (n = 176) were enrolled in a cross-sectional hospital-based study. Diabetic macular edema status was documented by fundus photographs.

We explored the relationship between plasma total homocysteine concentration and osteoporosis in postmenopausal patients with type 2 diabetes. Postmenopausal patients with type 2 diabetes (n = 258) were enrolled in a cross-sectional hospital-based study. Osteoporosis was documented by dual energy X-ray absorptiometry.

Objective: To explore the relationship between serum neuron-specific enolase (NSE) levels and diabetic neuropathy.

Research Design And Methods: Type 1 or 2 diabetic and healthy control subjects (n = 568) were randomly enrolled in a cross-sectional study. Diabetic neuropathy status was documented by the presence of clinical symptoms or signs, electromyography, quantitative sensory tests, and cardiac autonomic neuropathy tests.

We aimed to explore neuritin expression in Schwann cells under different glucose conditions. Expression of neuritin at the levels of transcription and translation in purified Schwann cells was detected and measured using reverse transcriptase (RT) (quantitative) polymerase chain reaction (PCR) and western blot. Apoptosis of Schwann cells was measured by flow cytometry using Fluorescence Activated Cell Sorter (FACS) analysis and caspase fluorometric assay.

Aim: To explore the relationship between plasma total homocysteine concentration and diabetic nephropathy in patients with Type 2 diabetes.

Methods: Chinese patients with Type 2 diabetes (n = 183) were enrolled in a cross-sectional hospital based study. Early diabetic nephropathy status was documented by presence of microalbuminuria.
