Due to the complexity of the tumor microenvironment (TME), current tumor treatments cannot achieve satisfactory results. A nanocomposite material, UCNPs@PVP-Hemin-GOx@CaCO (UPHGC NPs) is developed that responds to the TME and controls release to achieve multimodal synergistic therapy in tumor tissues. UPHGC NPs mediate photodynamic therapy (PDT), chemodynamic therapy (CDT), and starvation therapy (ST) synergistically, ultimately inducing self-amplification of ferroptosis.

The designability and high reactivity of nanotechnology provide strategies for antitumor therapy by regulating the redox state in tumor cells. Here, we synthesize a kind of vanadium dioxide nanoparticle encapsulated in bovine serum albumin and containing disulfide bonds (VSB NPs) for photothermal-enhanced ferroptosis and pyroptosis effects. Mechanism studies show that disulfide bonds can effectively consume overexpressed glutathione (GSH) in the tumor microenvironment, leading to a decrease in glutathione peroxidase 4 (GPX4) activity.

This study showcased the antibiotic degradation abilities of laccase and catalase-peroxidase from Bacillus ligniniphilus L1, an extremophile, against 18 common antibiotics using computationally guided approach. Molecular docking and simulation identified six enzyme-antibiotic complexes for laccase and four for catalase-peroxidase, demonstrating significant binding affinity and stability. Enzyme activity assays corroborated computational results, indicating both enzymes could degrade all tested antibiotics with varying efficiencies.

The binding and release behavior of flaxseed proteins to aldehydes is significant for the sensory properties of flaxseed foods. The key aldehydes of flaxseed were selected by headspace solid-phase microextraction-gas chromatography-mass spectrometry (HS-SPME-GC-MS) and odor activity value (OAV) method, and the interaction between flaxseed protein and flaxseed protein was investigated by multispectral, molecular docking, molecular dynamics simulation, and particle size techniques. The results showed that 2,4-decadienal presented a higher binding capability and a higher Stern-Volmer constant with flaxseed protein than pentanal, benzaldehyde, and decanal.
