Assisted reproductive technology (ART) has been widely developed over the decades. This advanced technology has shown efficacy in the conception and breeding of an animal. However, several issues such as polyspermy, low maturation rate, and low development rate in vitro remain unresolved.

A novel de novo mutation in COL2A1 gene associated with fetal skeletal dysplasia.

Objective: Skeletal dysplasias, caused by genetic mutations, are a heterogenous group of heritable disorders affecting bone development during fetal life. Stickler syndrome, one of the skeletal dysplasias, is an autosomal dominant connective tissue disorder caused by abnormal collagen synthesis owing to a genetic mutation in COL2A1.

Background: High humidity and temperature in Taiwan have significant effects on the reproductivity of Holstein cattle, resulting in the occurrence of bovine ovarian follicular cyst (OFC). Because of economic loss from OFC, manual rupture and hormone injection have been advocated for the management of OFC. However, these incomplete treatments increase hormone resistance in cattle.

Purpose Of Review: To review the advance of maternal--fetal surgery, the research of stem cell transplantation and tissue engineering in prenatal management of fetal meningomyelocele (fMMC).

Recent Findings: Advance in the imaging study provides more accurate assessment of fMMC in utero. Prenatal maternal--fetal surgery in fMMC demonstrates favourable postnatal outcome.

A rare case of heterotopic quintuplets pregnancy.

Objective: We report a rare case of heterotopic pregnancy and high-order pregnancy occurring simultaneously following the use of the assisted reproductive technique (ART).

Case Report: A 29-year-old woman, Gravida 2 Para 1, became pregnant after receiving intrauterine insemination (IUI). She came to our emergency room due to diffuse low abdominal pain at seven weeks of gestational age.

Postpartum thromboprophylaxis in a multireligious cohort: a retrospective review of indications and uptake.

Strategies to prevent mortality from obstetric venous thromboembolism begin with identification, risk stratification and subsequently, implementation of prophylactic measures. We sought to identify the burden of pharmacologic thromboprophylaxis in postpartum women, including the main clinical indications and its uptake in a multireligious population, with Islam as the official religion. A total of 2514 deliveries between 1st January to 31st December 2016, across three centres in Malaysia were reviewed retrospectively from hospital-based registries.
