Background: Lack of data integrity is a common problem in randomized clinical trials and is more serious in economic evaluations conducted alongside explanatory clinical trials. Despite pragmatic randomized controlled trials (pRCTs) becoming recognized as the best design for economic evaluations, information on the proportion, handling approaches, and reporting quality of missing data in pRCTs-based economic evaluations remains limited. This study aimed to investigate the quantity and reporting quality of missing data in economic evaluations conducted alongside pragmatic clinical trials.

Introduction: Nucleic acid-based therapeutics have become a key pillar of the 'third wave' of modern medicine, following the eras of small molecule inhibitors and antibody drugs. Their rapid progress is heavily dependent on delivery technologies, with the development of N-acetylgalactosamine (GalNAc) conjugates marking a breakthrough in targeting liver diseases. This technology has gained significant attention for its role in addressing chronic conditions like chronic hepatitis B (CHB) and nonalcoholic steatohepatitis (NASH), which are challenging to treat with conventional methods.

Retinal vein occlusion (RVO) is the leading cause of vision loss due to an obstruction in the retinal venous system. While RVO is often linked to thrombotic tendencies and coagulation abnormalities, the exact role of coagulation traits in its development is not fully understood. This study aims to investigate the potential causal relationship between coagulation traits and the risk of RVO by analyzing publicly available genome-wide association study (GWAS) summary statistics.

Purpose: The purpose of this study is to investigate the role of Secretogranin III (Scg3) in the pathogenesis of intraocular neovascular diseases and assess its potential as a therapeutic target for novel treatment strategies.

Methods: A literature review was conducted to examine the expression of Scg3 in intraocular neovascular diseases. We reviewed studies on the interaction of Scg3 with its homologous receptors and its effect on endothelial cell proliferation, migration, and vascular permeability-key processes involved in angiogenesis and neovascularization.

Background: Recent advancements in contemporary therapeutic approaches have increased the survival rates of lung cancer patients; however, the long-term benefits remain constrained, underscoring the pressing need for novel biomarkers. Surfactant-associated 3 (SFTA3), a long non-coding RNA predominantly expressed in normal lung epithelial cells, plays a crucial role in lung development. Nevertheless, its function in lung adenocarcinoma (LUAD) remains inadequately understood.

Background: (Iron-Sulfur Cluster Assembly 1) is involved in the assembly of iron-sulfur (Fe-S) clusters, which are vital for electron transport and enzyme activity. Some studies suggest the potential involvement of in tumor progression through interactions with ferroptosis-related genes (FRGs) and the tumor immune microenvironment (TME). However, there has been no systematic analysis of its role in FRGs and the TME or its predictive value for prognosis and immunotherapy response across different cancer types.

Objectives: Economic evaluations based on well-designed and -conducted pragmatic randomized controlled trials (pRCTs) can provide valuable evidence on the cost-effectiveness of interventions, enhancing the relevance and applicability of findings to healthcare decision-making. However, economic evaluation outcomes are seldom taken into consideration during the process of sample size calculation in pragmatic trials. The reporting quality of sample size and information on its calculation in economic evaluations that are well-suited to pRCTs remain unknown.

In this study, we aimed to investigate the protective effects of Panax notoginseng and leech (PL) on renal fibrosis and explore the mechanisms underlying their actions. For this study, we created an adenine-induced renal fibrosis model in SD rats to investigate the protective effect of PL on renal fibrosis and explore its underlying mechanism. Initially, we assessed the renal function in RF rats and found that Scr, BUN, and urine protein content decreased after PL treatment, indicating the protective effect of PL on renal function.

The environmental pollution caused by mineral exploitation and energy consumption poses a serious threat to ecological security and human health, particularly in resource-based cities. To address this issue, a comprehensive investigation was conducted on potentially toxic elements (PTEs) in road dust from different seasons to assess the environmental risks and influencing factors faced by Datong City. Multivariate statistical analysis and absolute principal component score were employed for source identification and quantitative allocation.

BACKGROUND Soft tissue tumors have various subtypes, among which sarcomas exhibit high malignant potential and poor prognosis. Malignant epithelioid tumor with GLI1 alterations was originally found in myopericytoma with t(7;12) translocation. However, recent studies indicated that it is a distinct tumor type characterized by multiple nodular distributions of oval or round epithelioid cells with a rich capillary network and a lack of specific immunophenotype.

Purpose: To study the alteration of cytokine factors in aqueous humor and retinal microstructure in the formation of serous retinal detachment (SRD) secondary to retinal vein occlusion.

Methods: The subjects were 39 patients with RVO, of whom 31 patients had SRD (RVO-SRD). Spectral Domain Optical Coherence Tomography (SD-OCT) was used to measure the completeness of photoreceptor inner segment/outer segment (IS/OS) and the external limiting membrane (ELM) as well as the structure of RVO-SRD, including the height and shape of SRD.

Article Synopsis
  • A comprehensive analysis was conducted on the cost-effectiveness of immune checkpoint inhibitors (ICIs) for treating non-small cell lung cancer, reviewing data from multiple global studies.
  • The findings identified several ICIs, such as pembrolizumab and nivolumab, but indicated that many combinations lacked cost-effectiveness in both China and the US, while alternatives like cemiplimab showed better value.
  • Overall, atezolizumab combinations were deemed not cost-effective, while camrelizumab, tislelizumab, and sintilimab were found to have lower cost-effectiveness ratios in China compared to others like pembrolizumab and nivolumab.

Contamination, hazard level and source of 10 widely concerned potentially toxic metal(loid)s (PTMs) Co, As, Pb, Cr, Cu, Zn, Ni, Mn, Ba, and V in fine dust with particle size below 63 μm (FD63) were investigated to assess the environmental quality of college campuses and influencing factors. PTMs sources were qualitatively analyzed using statistical methods and quantitatively apportioned using positive matrix factorization. Probabilistic contamination degrees of PTMs were evaluated using enrichment factor and Nemerow integrated enrichment factor.

The contamination of potentially toxic elements (PTEs) in road dust of large industrial cities is extremely serious. Determining the priority risk control factors of PTE contamination in road dust is critical to enhance the environmental quality of such cities and mitigate the risk of PTE pollution. The Monte Carlo simulation (MCS) method and geographical models were employed to assess the probabilistic pollution levels and eco-health risks of PTEs originating from different sources in fine road dust (FRD) of large industrial cities, and to identify key factors affecting the spatial variability of priority control sources and target PTEs.

Background And Aims: Non-alcoholic fatty liver disease(NAFLD) is common worldwide and has previously been reported to be associated with sleep traits. However, it is not clear whether NAFLD changes sleep traits or whether the changes in sleep traits lead to the onset of NAFLD. The purpose of this study was to investigate the causal relationship between NAFLD and changes in sleep traits using Mendelian randomization.

Circular RNA (circRNA) molecules are noncoding RNAs with ring-like structures formed by covalent bonds and are characterized by no 5caps or polyadenylated tails. Increasing evidence shows that circRNAs may play an important role in tumorigenesis and cancer metastasis. Circ-SHPRH originates from exons 26-29 of the gene, and it is closely associated with human cancers.
