Objective: To analyze the global gene expression profile of primary cultured nasopharyngeal carcinoma (NPC) cells using cDNA microarray techniques to screen new candidate genes related to the occurrence and progression of NPC.
Methods: A NPC cell line C666 and primary cultured NPC cells from biopsy specimens in 5 cases were analyzed with microarray techniques in comparison with 3 normal nasopharyngeal epithelial (NPE) biopsy specimens. Several differentially expressed genes identified from the microarray results were verified by fluorescence real-time PCR (FQ-PCR) and immunohistochemistry (IHC).

Objective: To observe clinical therapeutic effect of acupuncture in abatement of fever.
Methods: Eighty-six cases of high fever were randomly divided into two groups, an acupuncture group (n = 45) treated with acupuncture at Dazhui (GV 14) and a drug group (n = 41) treated with intramuscular injection of Antongding Injectio. Changes of body temperature before and after 24 hours treatment were observed by single blind.
Background: Nasopharyngeal carcinoma (NPC) is one of the most common cancers in southern China. In addition to environmental factors such as Epstein-Barr virus infection and diet, genetic susceptibility has been reported to play a key role in the development of this disease. The x-ray repair cross-complementing group 1 (XRCC1) gene is important in DNA base excision repair.

Methods: Blood of 150 primary NPC and 49 corresponding tumor tissues, 47 nasopharyngitis tissues and blood of 75 controls were entered this investigation. Plasma and PBCs were isolated for quantitative detection of EBV-DNA by using real-time quantitative PCR (RQ-PCR).
Background & Objective: There have been many controversies about the prognostic significance of lymph node micrometastasis. The aim of this study was to characterize the prognostic significance of lymph node micrometastasis of colorectal cancer.
Methods: Specimens of curative resection between 1988 and 2001 were collected from The Affiliated Hospital of Jianghan University Medical and Life Science College.
